Okay, I hope I am going to make sense here. Issue in Fictional Set-up Wizard..

So, I recently bought OOTP14, the last version I had before this one was back in 2008 I believe.

Anyways, that's besides the point. However, I may have kow the answer to this question back in 2008, but since have forgotten. :/

I want to start a league, a 'half-breed' league, where the league is composed of all fictional players, some fictional teams combined with most real teams from the MLB. I am going to keep the leagues Single A, Double A and Triple A with the addition of a few Latin leagues and an Asian league.

I want to start my league in 1925, however this is where I am having my first issue.

Upon creating this new fictional league, during the set-up process I select 'Fictional League'. On step 4 out of step 7 (on the Fictional League Creation Wizard Page(s) ) the options ask you to select the 'standard settings' which range from 1871 to 2013. Now, this is my first issue because I do not remember this option/feature back when I was playing this game back in 2008 or so. But for the sake of just moving on, I select the option setting of 1960 since I really enjoyed who the league was set-up back then as far as financials, ect. Maybe I'm wrong, but it is what it is here. And if ANYONE has any more input about this option, where you can set the leagues standard settings, I would appreciate the info. For example, should I set it for 2013, 2000, 1990 ect etc??

Okay, moving on to the real issue I am having...

The next option on this page, step 4 out of step 7 (on the Fictional League Creation Wizard Page(s), it asks you if you want to hold an amateur draft and if so, if you select the box that says yes you want to hold amateur drafts, the next option box you select is the date, like on what date would you like to hold the draft. Well, here it gives you the day/month/year. HOWEVER ***(this is the issue)*** the option only allows the years 2013 or 2014 to be picked for the amateur draft. This problem here is that I am starting my league in 1925 and not in 2013 or 2014.

Is there a 'work-around' for this, or am I doing this wrong somehow? I mean, shouldn't I have the option year 1925 to have the amateur draft?

And then on the very next page during the fictional league set-up process (which is step 5 out of step 7) the very first option is to set the 'Season Start Date' which is the day/month/year. And here again, the options 2013 or 2014 are the only two years here that can be used. This is a problem considering i want to start my league in 1925. AND...Again, am I misunderstanding how this is supposed to work?

I hope that I have made sense here and any help would be greatly apreciated. Thank you all...

I am also noticing I am I can not change the number of wildcards that make it into the post season. My league is composed of 48 total teams, 24 teams per sub-league. Is there a reason why I am also unable to change the number of wildcard teams per sub-league. HELP!! lol..

Yay!!!! lol :P I figured out a fix for the OP (original post). However, post #2, where I can have only two wildcard teams, I still am unable to figure out. Any idea as to why I am unable to change the number of wildcard teams that make it out of a 24 team sub-league?

Here is my league set up:

2 Sub-leagues
Each sub-league has six divisions with four teams per division (North Eastern Division, South Eastern Division, North Central Division, South Central Division, North Western Division, South Western Division). This equals 24 teams per sub-league, 48 teams total per entire league.

So, I will have six division winners/champions and only two wild card teams per sub-league. I would like at least four wild card teams per sub-league, but the game isn't allowing that. {{{shrug}}}

As for having 2 wild card teams, in the League Setup page, click the Options tab and then on the right side, click/select custom playoffs and then select the division winners and then select the 2 wildcard teams.

I can help with the playoff question!
You cannot alter playoffs very much in the wizard. Once you have all the other settings to your liking, create the league, ignoring the current playoff setting. Once the league is created, You will need to go to the league settings screen and find then click on the "options" tab. You should now see the area where you change playoff settings and a new button called "customize playoffs" is now available. You can set up almost any number of teams you want the game will even figure out first round byes if it needs too!

Thank you, - you two. I did notice that AFTER the initial set-up, I was able to customize!! lol, all happy now...hehehee.

Now all I need are my teams.

I am starting my league in 1925, but with game settings set at 1960 or 1965 to get stats from the Era. Have either of you two has success at using these settings? ( I think they are seen on step 4 or 5 during the initial set-up phase).
