Webcast Screen

So, I finally decide to buy this version and play. After playing my first game (which took a while, had to setup a league, get my team ready, etc) I see that the webcast screen has been completely dumbed down

By dumbed down I mean, a lot of stats removed, lineup removed, arm rating of the catcher removed, speed and steal rating of the runners removed.

Leaves me wondering why it was changed. Do people who use the webcast screen really prefer less information?

The rest of the game seems great so far, but this one change is enough for me to say that I am disappointed.

Please post your suggested repairs/improvements to the webcast screen in the OOTP 15 suggestions forum.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

There are a lot of configuration options for the broadcast. Maybe this doesn't resolve your disappointment, but you may be able to configure the broadcast screen to be what you wanted out of the webcast screen.

I'll make it for you then. They should not have been removed.

Wonder if it's a space thing? Or could it be that it's just assumed that the only people using webcast are those using real time sim and therefore not playing out their games? I too find it strange that the ratings have disappeared.

It's probably related to adding the ability to use ballpark-specific graphics on that screen, isn't it? Maybe the redesign for that led to some mistakes or maybe required some removal of information.

Maybe. But I just can't see why they'd need to remove it.

That's why I'm guessing there was a mistake or oversight. It doesn't make much sense to have the field graphic on the screen and none of the ratings. There seems to be plenty of room.

I've heard from Markus elsewhere that this change was deliberate. I'm not sure if there can be an option added to bring back the missing information, but I'll ask about it or maybe Markus can post here with his feedback.

You can view ratings in the drop down menu. What is really needed is a short play by play of the action. This screen is setup based on how much space your screen can hold...as a result it wastes a lot of space. I love this feature, but the design could use a little work.

I think the OP is playing out his games, so there is a play by play of the action. The problem is that the webcast screen is now more or less designed for real time simulation. Those that want to use it instead of the broadcast screen while playing out individual games are left without on screen ratings.

I've submitted an official request for an option to bring back the information that was removed. I can't guarantee that this will be addressed, and it might have to wait until OOTP 15. But sometimes Markus has been able to make things like this happen in a patch.

I don't think it's really detailed enough for real-time yet either. I'd love that you could watch a game from this screen and have all the info there for the taking....a simplified play by play being paramount.

I am in the same boat as the original poster. I play all of my games out using the Webcast screen on my laptop. I hate to say this but the new Webcast screen is almost a deal breaker for me. It has been the same (or close to it) for as many versions that I can remember. I am having a very difficult time getting used to either the new Webcast screen or the Broadcast screen. I have tried to adjust the Broadcast screen to include the information I want but nothing seems to fit right. To get the info I want to see for every batter on the Webcast screen I have to mess around with drop down menus and scroll bars. Very annoying.

I suppose I will try to get used to it but I am very unfortunately considering shifting back to OOTP 13.

I DO watch all games in real-time, but I still feel it's not well designed...too much clicking to go back and forth between stats, box scores, match ups etc...and way too much wasted space. I would still like to see this more like the ESPN version, where the is a lot more visible, such as where the ball was hit, simple play by play, lineups...etc... I have a large display (as I am sure others do too), and it would really be great to have all of this...even if you have to use generic ballpark images. I'd like it to really be a true webcast. This is for real-time....I'm sure others who are actually managing in game would want a different setup. Again, for the real-time, I don't want full play by play, just a basic description of what happened, and who was involved.

Has anyone heard anything about putting the info back in?

So far it seems that there is no intention of putting the info back on this screen. I usually play out about 2 seasons between versions, but this year, due to the fact I just can't seem to get comfortable with the play screens, I have finished less then half a season so far. Seems a waste to buy a game and not play it...

Regarding the broadcast screen what would be invaluable would be widget boxes which resized and sorted themselves into an optimised set-up relative to where they were dropped. For example here...RunningAHEAD - Free online running log, training plans and running forum
under,training log then summary.
