Jersey Questions

Here is a home jersey I am working on:

Attachment 318512
Attachment 318506

I hope to get some help on the ballcap. I don't want the same logo that is on the jersey on the cap as well. I would like to put some font on the cap instead.

It is simple enough to cut and paste a logo on the cap but what about font? How do you cut font out and paste it to a layer? More specifically, from what source is the font cut from? Word? Or is there a way to generate font within the phot editor or something?

Thanks in advance.

You should have a text tool that will allow you to insert text into a layer.

For Photoshop this is how I would do it. You should have similar tools.

First I would make the white background transparent with the Magic Eraser Tool. Also, the light purple stroke needs to go (you can put it back in later).

Then I would use the Rectangular Marquee Tool to select the "R"

Then copy the selection and paste it into a new layer.

Since the letter moving down will not fit inside the canvas, I will have to increase the canvas size.

Then use the Move tool to move the "R" down.

Now I can erase the "R" in the first layer and erase the little bit of the "L" that got copied in the second layer.

Then apply the light purple stroke and save as a png.

One more question. I forgot what exact shade of purple I am using. Can photoshop look at one of your layer that you have already filled with color and tell you the code? Od do I have to eyeball it?

I have already saved it as a .png so I have lost the layers I worked with. (note to self save both a .png and a .psd going forward)

You could just load the original image and pick off the colors with the Eyedropper Tool or use a color picker utility like Color Cop.

or I can give you the hex codes to save you the trouble.

Light Purple = cbb8e3
Dark Purple = 5034ca

Short of a cut paste is there any other way to get cool underlines underneath the font? Photoshop seems to only have one kind of underline.

I have another question.

I tried to make my own layer so that I wasn't completely working with other peoples creations. I wanted to add a swoosh from left to right on the jersey. I made the swoosh on a blank file and cut it over to a new layer on the template.

I put it down towards the bottom below sleeves etc. When I fill the layer with my color it cover the entire image. Should I put my layer just below the shadows.

The swoosh will be across the chest so I know that it must be underneath the text layer. But when I put it up high it gets stuck underneath other images.

Any suggestions?
