When playing fictional, do you use fixed stat settings...

I fixed my modern fictional league to 2011 (which was the most recent current year when I started it).

I prefer using historical settings. For my EBL vs MLB league I started my league in 2003 with 1973 Strategy and finances. Nothing ws out of wack until I forgot to set it for the 2011 season and it used modern 2011 and I had a 3B hit 81 HR. The past several years no one has hit more then 35 homeruns playing out Strategy from the mid 80's. With the exception of the past 4 years I have always had less teams then the years that I am using strategy for.

I started my fictional League in 1900 with modern day stats and keep it that way, I like to be able to compare any 2 players from any point in time and have 40 hr season mean the same thing in common 1920 as it does in 1990

I adjust the settings to my own liking and then tweak them over time to simulate the changing of the league.

I use a random year for my Chaos solo lg, in 1901 I had 1933 stats, 1902 had 1974, 1903 had 2011 and 1904 is set to Have 1961
