Disabled lists and depth charts
First, I notice that when a player is moved to the DL, the next player down on the depth chart doesn't automatically get inserted into the next game's starting lineup (eg. at 3B against RHPs, Pedro Alvarez starts and Josh Harrison is at Utility 1. Pedro Alvarez goes down with an injury but 3B is empty when I go to start the next game instead of being populated with Harrison). Shouldn't the depth chart work this way?
Second, I noticed that whenever I move a player onto the DL it removes them completely from all depth charts they are present in. So, whenever they return from the DL, I need to re-add them to each depth chart. It's really tedious to edit the depth charts every time someone gets injured or recovers when it seems like this is the entire point of having a depth chart. I also started managing my minor league lineups and rotation manually. What is the minor league DL for if I can put as many guys as I want to on the teams in the first place? All it seems to do is mess up all my depth charts when they return from the DL as I described above. Am I missing something here with the way depth charts and the disabled list work or are they just very finicky in this release? Thanks! |

You are not missing anything other than a setting.
The game is set up that you can micro manage a team much further than you are looking at. I do not have much fun playing DL and promotion/demotion manager so I have the AI do some of the work for me. There is a manager option that has the AI set line ups and depth charts for you. In a players profile there is an option to Force Start at a certain position. These two options will allow you to sim, move players on and of the DL but not have to manage every little move. The downside is the AI will not always do what you want. You will want to check it every once in a while to make sure. I think these defaults make sense. I do not want my 1st listed sub automatically put in because he may not be the best starter for the position. He may be the best sub for that position or he may be a sub that backs up multiple positions. In real baseball you cannot put as many players on a roster as you want. There are roster limit options in OOTP, that is why there is a minor league DL. I think. Good luck, Tom

Thanks! I didn't know about "force start". I might go back to automating my minor league depth charts since the reason I started doing them manually was that the AI would change some of my starting pitching prospects to relievers.
