World Template Usage Help

So I created a retro league, set up all the teams as I want them, with all real-life minor league teams. Took awhile.

Now I'd like to use that as a template for a fictional league.

Is this what I need to do in order to use this as a template?

- Take my retro league, remove all players and coaches from teams and delete them all. So I basically have no players in my game.

- Save as template.

- Exit out and go thru the normal new league creation screen.

- Load the template and delete the single fictional league that was automatically created.

- I'm also going to add some feeder leagues.

Before I go thru that work to see if it will, does anyone know if this will in fact work?

Thanks in advance.

You got it right...However once you've deleted everything you want, run the purge tool before you create your template. This can save a lot of headaches later on.
To access the purge tool, click the game tab and under Current Game, select Database Info. On that page click the tools button and about 2/3 of the way down select Purge deleted records from database. This will insure you get a clean template.

well you don't need to remove the players or coaches. If you want the players still there. you can always just rename the players if you want later. I don't recommend saving teams without coaches

You will have to add players anyway.

Didn't know of the purge deal. Will try that when I get home tonight.

It did seem to work. However the team I was managing in my 1973 retro league, ended up not having any players on their active or 40-man roster. Found them all listed on waivers. All other teams were fine. Can't understand why that would be.

The other issue was not very many pitchers listed as SP they were all listed as MR. Is this a settings issue? I see this in other places as well. A pitcher with a 15+ (out of 20) listed as a MR, but a 5 stamina a SP. Seems backward to me.

No I don't want the real players or real coaches. I want all brand new fictional players.

What I want is a simple template. Just want the team names to stay so I don't have to go thru two hours of renaming teams again.

Figured out the purge deal. Thanks.

On that database screen, I still see 261 players and 480 coaches. Althou when I look at the current list of all players, nothing is there. I do have both the show Minors and retired players checked.

Any ideas?

EDIT: Found where the players were hiding. Now have 0 players but still have the 480 coaches.

I think this is what you are looking for...

First you would go to Game Setup and in the middle column click Release All Coaches and Scouts... Then go to your League Transactions screen, click on Available Personnel, look to the lower right and click release all available personnel...

Yep. Did exactly that the first time. I guess I have a bunch of ghost coaches in my retro league.

Re-Purge the db to get rid of them, however they are marked as deleted in your saved game's DB and are not touched/used anywhere.

I think I've used that purge deal three or four times now. They still show up.

Doesn't matter anyway. Can't use this template for what I wanted. Some of the financials were grayed out, so I couldn't change them.

I'd have to start from scratch again. Probably won't. I'm tired of spending 2 to 3 hours setting up a league, only to find something is not right, and I have to start all over.

So most likely I'm going to give up on this game again.

Thanks for the help thou.

I went back to Jan 1st of my retro league, and made my template from that.

I can now adjust all the financials like I wanted.

However I'm now seeing other issues. Posted them in another thread.
