Christmas gift?

I want to get my dad this game for Christmas. Should I? He is a die hard Oilers fan by the way.

Completely honest opinion: No, not at this point.

Things will definitely get better in the next few versions, but right now the game is just too early in development for "mainstream" consumption. It's playable, but not necessarily enjoyable.

It'd be like buying your dad a car with no gas tank... It'd just sit there and it would be nice to look at but it just wouldnt go anywhere.

The historical part of the game is actually quite fun, if that's what he'd be most into I think it'd definitely be something he'd enjoy.

Well, I enjoy it. Is it perfect? No. But it's still quite fun imho.

Exactly...the foreigner/resigning/rating display glitches will surely get fixed soon and beside that the historical mode is a blast

If your dad enjoys the 80´s Oilers then buy it .... it only will get better from here

The problem is you're buying potential. This isnt like the old days when you might go to the store and see one copy left on the shelf and grab it then hope for it to imporve.. The game will continue to be patched (hopefully) and will (hopefully) get better. I would invest elsewhere.. Then down the road you can buy it for him on a whim when the price becomes more reasonable for the product.
