Can I just cry?

Capping an amazing final month of the year my Yankees win the division on the final day. Watching the Phillies, down a game(changed divisions), win while in the 6th inning of my game i'm down 6-2 to the powerhouse Expos pitching... come back tie it in the 9th with a triple and in the 10th inning get a solo shot from my powerless shortstop to win.

but to cap off my amazing comeback... the game freezes with a month of data unsaved and all the heroics and amazing final two weeks gone, my incredible division title win, the astros climbing from 4 down to win the wild card the final week...

AND THEN! while hitting my keyboard in frustration from having lost all of that amazing progress an option appears at the top left to close the program and it miraculously saves. The rollercoaster of emotions was almost as crazy as watching that last game.

You should back up your league regularly and save yourself some stress.

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

I save the game every series and backup just the dats twice a year and full backup once per season. I had my CF hit 4 HR's which i had never done while my SP threw a Perfect Game and I had my PC on for 4-5 hours playing Candy Crush between innings and surfing the forum, my game froze then my PC froze trying to unfreeze OOTP. You learn thru trial & error.

As a rule of thumb: if something happens in your league that would make you cry, scream obscenities, or throw stuff through windows in case of a computer crash, save at exactly this point. In case of a no-hitter, a clinched playoff spot, or a ninth-inning rally from six runs down - make a backup.

Very few things can go wrong this way, unless the stuff you throw out of the window would be your laptop with OOTP on it. And it is raining outside.
