Baseball Yesteryear

This time around I will be trying something different. Major difference is there will be no ratings scales and I will not use the their imported ratings every year. I will let fate take over and see where it leads. The time starts in 1871.

I will start out as the manager of the Baltimore Canaries.

The first year is in the books and Baltimore takes the American League

Lead by the strong pitching of Al Pratt and the bats of Ezra Sutton, Ross Barnes,Denny Mack, and Davy Force.

Canaries will face the Brooklyn Atlantics in the series.

Atlantics prove to be too much for the Canaries.

1872 was not a good year for the Canaries. Finished in third place, 10 games behind Philadelphia. Rookie Cy Bentley (19-26, 3.52) was not quite ready for the big time, but did win Rookie of the Year. Ross Barnes continues to heat up opposing pitching with his .336 batting average. Philadelphia will take the series from Chicago White Stockings 4 games to 2. Al Spalding is the series MVP pitching in five games (4-1, 5.36).
