Help! Power Outage

Hoping the veterans can provide some help to a newb. I just started playing the game for the first time after I was able to purchase it for just 99 cents. It's very addictive, but I have one big issue that I'd like to make sure isn't a bug or some piece of game strategy that I am missing.

Basically, I'm playing with the Braves, and through 13 games my entire team only has three home runs. Meanwhile, I am allowing more than one homer per game. This seems odd for any team. I know slumps like that happen in real baseball, so it stands to reason that they will happen in a realistic simulation as well. But since I'm brand new to the game, I want to make sure I'm not doing something wrong (because if I am, I'd rather not sim 162 games and finish with 12 home runs for the year).

Any advice that could be offered would be appreciated.

Thirteen games is too small of a sample size to be concerned about in baseball. Unless you're fielding a terrible line-up, there's nothing you could be doing to cause the drought, so just keep with it and the numbers will normalize to some degree eventually.

As mentioned, your sample size is too small. Plus it depends who is on your team, too. Are you playing the Braves with Hank Aaron? Or some other year? Etc.

(It's a rhetorical question ... no need to answer, but I think you catch my drift.)

If you have a lot of players with high power ratings on your team, you are going to hit a lot of home runs, if you have a lot of players with low or no power ratings on your team, you are not going to hit a lot of home runs.

Personally, I like a good balance of high contact players and high power players in my lineup.

One other thing ... don't confuse current power ratings with potential power. It may be years before a young player reached his potential (if he ever does) and starts hitting with power.
