The Game's HOF or Bust
I am biased when choosing HOFers for my EBL vs MLB league and many people use different criteria then I might to evaluate whether a player is HOF caliber or not. I am looking for you opinion on the players I will list. I will reveal their name after a yea or nea vote.
2003 -130 Games, 2004- 2007 144 games 2008 - 160 G 2009-2025 162 Games. Player 1. League pioneer. 6 Time NL MVP. Rookie of the Year. 2 GG's. 3 Triple Crowns. Probably a no-brainer on him.

Definite HOFer. Did your league begin in 2003? If not, why did he have such a short career?

Yes the league began in 2003. His defense was atrocious by 2012. Range was like 2-3 arm was still great though. He was 36 his final year.

Ok so John Wayne is in. I am not sure if i will have my 1st class be this year 2017 or 2020. I have 4 players eligible for 1017, depends on how many of them are voted in.

we'll see what others say but i am leaning on 2nd-4th ballot and not 1st ballot like John Wayne. Wayne when he retired was the all time leader in HR. He ranks 3rd right now.

How old was he when the league began? If he was 28 or older I'd say yes, if under 28 then just barely no.

So you feel 1st ballot or not at all for any player?

In terms of OOTP without a real voting system there is truly only one vote... your own. If you think someone is worthy of the hall of fame that is something you should feel every single season, not based on whether or not enough amazing players retired at once to give you a strong Hof pool.
For example, If you restrict yourself to two HoF entrances a year then yes, some years will have 3-5 guys that you think should be in but only two would and can create a backlog of potential HoFers... but if there is a year where only one guy is worthy why put a second guy in the hall just to fill a quota and cheapen the hall's worth? If someone is saying well I won't vote for this guy the first time but maybe eventually I would during a weak class... it just means that no, he really isn't HoF material but may at some point look comparatively better to other prospective choices. Which IMO is zero reason to vote yes for a HoF player. In this case you are going player by player asking yes or no, not giving a ballot. Anyone's answer should be definitive. (Again my own opinion) |

Ok I will change it up. I have 4 players eligible for the 2017 HOF if I have 2017 as the 1st class. 1 is for sure 2 are borderline 1 I would say never. i'll switch to the 2017 MLB ballot and leave the EBL til 2020.
