I must ask...is iOOTP holding OOTP12 back?

I just received an email about iOOTP which I have no interest in whatsoever.

But now I am wondering, how much of this iOOTP programing time is taken away from OOTP12?

Is this why OOTP12 seems to be lagging behind this year compared to last year?

If so, then I can honestly say that I am not very happy with this.

What's your opinion? Perhaps someone has an answer as to what is going on.

Why would it be? It has its own developer.

So Markus is not involved with that project? I didn't know that. Thanks for the info.

Obviously he's involved, but does no coding that I know of for the game. That's all done by their newest member palli.

I have to admit, I wondered the same thing when the email came through today.

OOTP X was released in June...let's not pretend like we haven't had to wait before.

I read your post. Had my intent been to single your OP out, I would have quoted you.

My point is that the ETA for this version is no later than has been established over recent releases.

I get the impression that no one on these forums has worked on any type of engineering or research and development project. Things can change/blow up or die on the vine in the blink of an eye. Those who whine have a very narrow and selfish viewpoint IMO.

Look at the big picture. I hope the iOOTPB game is very successful. It's success may open a cross-over market and may generate additional income that will help Markus further develop the OOTPB brand.

Maybe iOOTPB will be so successful OOTP12 will be the final PC version.

No. Markus serviced OS-X and Linux when they were niche markets; he'll service Windows when it's a niche, too.

That occurred to me, too. 12 is a nice round number. Better than 11 or even 13 for a finale.

The new game will out this Spring sometime. In the meantime PLEASE show a little patience and restraint and try not to go any more off the edge than you already are. Even I knew that the IOS version has a separate developer.

OP, you most certainly did NOT need to be asking this question. Holy cow.

This is a ridiculous statement. I am sure MANY people are wondering the same thing. I've played OOTP since v3 and wasn't aware that Markus wasn't the developer of iOOTP. I am patient and will gladly wait but I also wondered when I saw the announcement. Absolutely nothing wrong with asking...the question has pretty much been answered and we can (hopefully) just move on.

That's odd, I found the OP to be into conspiracy theory land. To each their own.

If so, then THOSE people are not paying attention. Its been stated NUMEROUS times that Palli is developing this, not Markus.

Sorry, I don't hang out on the boards as much as some. I check every now and then to check up on news. I certainly thought it was a legit question. When I saw the email I was hoping for a surprise release of the game. I can tell you this, the board used to be a lot more friendly. There wasnt an attitude of "those" people. Everybody used to be pretty friendly.

Wasn't it also mentioned in a newsletter that he hired a devloper specifically for the new game?

It seems obvious to me that by offering a $5 stripped down version to a possibly different group of people, he could be teasing people just enough to make them buy OOTP12 (when it comes out)
