Salary Caps
Im still getting familiar with the game. Ive simmed through 3 seasons with the Mets. I was interested in adding a salary cap on the teams but wasnt sure if that was possible? Ive read thru the posted manual about the player salary cap is where I can possibly do this but im not sure if im doing something wrong?
It doesnt affect any of the cpu transactions, the payrolls remain above the cap. Does anyone know if its possible to do a salary cap and if so how? Ive been trying to research it for a few days. |

Adding a cap to a previously uncapped league should work perfectly. Teams shouldn't be able to add payroll once they're over the cap.

Yes, Player Salary Cap is what you want. It IS technically possible for AI teams to spend over the cap - arbitration is a slight issue; players can get awarded salaries that push the team over the cap, but once over it, they will be unable to spend more. And, on rare occasions, trades that increase salary but lower the overall budget (such as those including cash) can push a team over. But, for the most part, it works as intended. I would still recommend turning off arbitration, but it's up to you.
I think the reason you're not seeing it seem to work is that teams will NOT "dump" salary to get under the cap - if they're over the cap, they'll stay there, but they won't be able to actually spend more money until they're under it again. Last edited by Fyrestorm3; 09-25-2013 at 03:32 PM. |

Thank you for the clarification! That makes much more sense now on how it works. I will set a salary cap and see how the teams over will react as the season begins and moves on.

Still a work in progress not perfect. Gonna switch to reserve clause in season 2 which will help teams release players while having a 8 rd Ammy draft. Most of my financial stuff was taken from what i could find for NFL in 2000.
