reserve rosters

I'm thinking about starting a new association and am looking at going with reserve rosters rather than using minor leagues. For those with more experience:

What size reserve roster have you found to work best, both as a supplement to the active roster and a place to stash young, developing players?

How big of a draft do you use for an organization with this set up?

One more question - If I turn off international amateur discoveries does the international complex just sit empty or does it disappear from my options?

I have found that a reserve roster limit of 30 players works sufficiently. I always use 5 rounds for the first year player draft. The last question I am not sure about.
