do manager ratings do anything for team?

Hey guys,

Does manager ratings matter at all towards a teams success or does it hold no barring at all??? In my first season I couldn't really tell so I'm hoping to ask the ones who has played this a lot. Would a great team play better for a highly rated coach over a lower rated coach or is it just a random thing? I was hoping that coaches would affect how teams play.
(I'm meaning this all to be from an AI standpoint, cuz I do strictly commish and never control a team)
Thanks in advance guys for your input!!! I appreciate it!

According to the manual yes. But like IRL if you dont have good players even Casey Stengel will lose.

Bench coaches in ver 13 helped with fielding as well. Somebody smarter than me can confirm or dispute this if this was true and/or if it helps with this version or not.

In my experience coaches have a huge factor on how teams play and players develop. I don't have statistics to back it up, just the observation that as a human GM able to hire consistently better coaches at all levels than the AI, I see much better development and performance on my teams than the AI's.
