Projected Budget Room

Forgive me if there's an obvious explanation here, but I don't pretend to know the intricacies of the financial system. Anyway, I'm wondering why my Projected Budget Room is different on the Trade screen, compared to the Team Finances screen:

I have noticed this as well, multiple times. There's got to be a good explanation.

What's on the trade page should be showing what the projected budget will be "after" you complete the trade.

So there must be a difference in contracts/$$$ between the individuals being traded.

No. No players have been selected in that screenshot. The new budget room for both teams shows up in the big box in the middle after selecting players.

EDIT: Hmm... it's something to do with being in the off-season. I'm in Spring Training now, and the numbers match. I'm just not sure what the difference could be, since at the time I took the screenshot, arbitration was over, I had no one DFA'd, and while I did have a pending contract offer, it did not add up to the difference between the two numbers.

That's correct. In November and December, they won't match because the in one case it is looking and current year salary not the coming year salary, but in both cases the new budget is applied.

Are you letting the owner decide the budget or is the whole revenue available? I had something a while back I don't recall which screens, where one was predicting end of season budget, (with whole revenue available) with ticket prices and all factored in. Whereas the other screen was showing right now which was different due to different ratios at that point in the season. Any chance you are seeing that?

Bingo. I knew it was something simple. Once you hit the offseason, your owner sets your new budget, but it's not until the year rolls over that the salaries change. The Trade screen is correct in this case, showing what your budget room will be next year, while the Team Finances screen is still "stuck" on last year's payroll.
