Can't decide on a move looking for opinions
I have been struggling with this over the last 30 minutes lol so thought I would get some experienced players opinions (I have been playing about 1 week.
Ok so I am playing as the GM for Colorado and have a choice to make. I have Troy Tulowitzki at SS and of course he is not going anywhere. Now below him in the minors I have Trevor Story who is a 5 star prospect who has now reached 3.5 stars and is ready to come up. I have thought about moving him to second base but he has a low fielding rating there. Also I have Josh Rutledge (2.5 star) as my starting 2B and DJ Lemahieu (1 star) as the backup and there stats line this previous season were: Rutledge : Avg .313 OBP .350 HR 16 RBI 68 w/ 71 runs scored in 444 at bats LeMahieu : Avg .320 OBP .361 HR HR 3 RBI w/ 50 runs scored in 353 at bats Scouts say Story will be an elite hitting prospect with 20+ home run power, very patient at the plate and good speed with pretty good fielding. So I don't have room for all 3 so do I stick with Rut and DJ at 2B and trade Story as I have nowhere for him to go and another good SS prospect in the minors already? Or do I trade Rutledge and move Story to 2B and hope his fielding is sufficient and he hits as well as the scouts expect. |

What's the harm in bringing Story up to play backup to Tulowitzki for a season? Don't be expecting him to jump right into the lineup; let him get his feet wet first, and then make a decision, after you see what he can do at the major league level.

What about 3B? Story already has a rating there, and a strong arm.

Don't feel like you have to trade him just because he is ready to come to the majors. Unless he is out of options, you can just keep him at AAA and let the AI badger you with trade requests.
If you are trading Story because you can get something for him that you want and need right now, then by all means trade him. I would trade the unproven prospect (Story) before trading Rutledge and playing the prospect out of position. |

Story may have a low rating at 2B due to lack of experience. I'd keep him at AAA, set his player position to 2B, and then set the individual player strategy for him and lock him into playing second.
It might take half a season for him to get really good, but, then you'll have Tulo and Story as a double-play combo. Plus, when (not if) Tulo goes down again, you can slide Story into SS. |

I'm not getting this at all - you say he's still in AAA, has a gr8 SS rating and so so 2B rating. Your SS at ML is locked up for a number of years. Why didn't you start playing this guy regularly at 2B a long time ago?
![]() Players don't get better at positions unless they play there. He may well have developed into a premiere fielding 2B by now. |
