Conversion from 13 to 14 Bug - Anyone Else Have This?

I just wasted $40 for a game that is now useless. I dont play any other leagues right now other then my main league. This happened on each version from 11 to 12 12 to 13 and now 13 to 14. I converted my game after about 5 games into my 2008 season (and no converting it in the offseason wont fix it I tried that when I converted from 12 to 13).
Ok had to rant I am really upset now.
Ok so I converted to 14 about 9 games into my 2008 season. Stats from last year is all that shows up when playing a game. i can not view this years stats or day or night stats. I can view this season vs LHP vs RHP each month, PH, runners in scoring position etc but can not see what my players are actually doing. I have had this problem with every conversion with this league. This league was created on 13 for the 7th time. Some problems on my end for at least 5 of those times. This issue once before and one crash in October 2011.

Anyone have a clue how to fix this? I tried converting it again and that did not work. I will try again after my 2008 season and see if it fixes it but I have tried that from 12 to 13.

Don't know if this is the same thing I see occasionally. I sometimes have to go to the "scope" dropdown and click Major League then on the "split" menu and click "overall" to reset to this years stats

Typically that's exactly what it is, a split or scope setting. Thanks for the suggestion.

Other than yours, Game, to the best of my knowledge there've been no reports of this problem and/or conversions. Because you have been helpful to people with other problems, I'll have a look tonight- if you don't have an answer by then -and see what I can turn up. FWIW, though, comments like "I just wasted $40 for a game that is now useless" are not helpful and are usually untrue. In addition, it very often causes me to move on, abandoning any notion of trying to help. But, as I said, you have been helpful, so I'll try to be as well.

Did all that. Still have the problem. I copied this league and simmed it to the 1st day of the offseason and converted and still had this problem.

I appreciate the help, just really upset that the main reason i keep buying each new version of OOTP never seems to work on each new version unless i create it on that new version.
I worked on setup of this league for 6+ months when I 1st got 11. As I said I have since created this league 7 more times always having one problem after another. Since January and my laatest try I back the game up several times per season, I created it on 11 as a template and conveted it from 11 to 12 to 13 without playing a game on it, starting up MLB 1999 on 13 for the 7th time and bringing in this league in 2003. This is the 3rd time i have actually gotten to 2008 without losing my league. Thank God for backups.
Was looking to take advantage of the PH and bullpen usage. My team plays 160 games with 1978 strat & Finances 5 man rotation but I only use the top4 mostly. Iuse Talon Karrde as a spot starter long relief . He will see 5-6 starts 12+ relief appearances. He is the owner of an expansion team next year and if off during expansion owner thingies until the WS. I traded a huge piece of my stockpile of arms to acquire Gerard Diplock (Daryl Strawberry 2007 MVP runner up .348 38 HR 124 RBI) Ihave Gavin Floyd and Nick Blacburn waiting at AAA to replace Talon, Kyp and the guy I hope wins ROTY John Hammer. (Colton academy graduate 1st rd pick must go complete 3 years Republic military service so gets to play one season because he finished in the top 3% of his class) Yes I have too much time on my hands. He actually takes 10 years off plays for 9 more seasons. He is my Sandy Koufax. Ok I could go on and on about this league which turns into misc ramblings, i mean more ramblings niot just the ramblings i just posted. So take a look i can send you a quick version of it. Here is my league in 2008. Just the .Dats. I know Endgame knows how to set this up but for anyone else wanting to try and I am gonna ask Kev24Fan to look at it also. Create a new .blank/lg folder cut & paste the .dats and load the game. Conversion is the one i am having problems with 2008 SOS is MLB OD about a week left in sT for my league. I also have a 2007 EOS if anyone wants it which is right before the WS for my league Game 2 of Boston vs Mets MLB

If you get it to work tell me what ya did and post screen shots of teh overall stats for the 2008 season about a week in at the start of the GB series.
Forgot to mention 2008 is from 13 but should still work on 14 if done right.

Hopefully your game can be fixed, but I have to be honest: if you're trying to maintain a long-term saved game across versions, I think you're asking for trouble. There is no computer game in the world that can convert saved games across seven versions without possible problems. I would never expect this to work with any product.

To me, you're better off continuing old saved games on previous versions and using the new versions of the software to create newer saved games.

People forget that the vast majority of products won't even allow you to convert a saved game from the previous version to the current one, let alone allow you to convert across seven years of the product.

Okay, I may need some help with this. I've spent that last 20-30 minutes starting up the game, starting games, and examining the data available in-game, e.g. This year, night games, day, grass, etc... All the things you claim you cannot see. I see them.



Now the thing is, don't ever use Double Split in-game. It doesn't do anything. See my attachment and notice I use the first column Split. First I selected Overall and I see this year's stats. I select the the same dropdown, select Last Year and I see Last Year's. If I use the same dropdown, I can select Night, Day, etc... and the stats always adjust as I expect them to. So.... Am I reading something wrong? Misinterpreting? Point me in the right direction. And if I'm just being outright dense, don't be afraid to say so. I want to figure this out with you.

This is the conversion version? or the other file? Double split works great for PH vs LHP/RHP in game its the only time I use it in game. I'll see what happens when I create a new .lg using the conversion file.

Ok End walk me through step by step on what you did. I created a league folder EBL vs MLB2.lg and copied the dats into it. I simmmed to the Glenbard series and this is what shows for Roster Overview. I am not in a game. Your screenshot is from April 20th, which is the day I backed up the game not the day I had the problem. The problem started with the Glenbard series.

I hope you get it all worked out The Game, and sorry if this seems unfair, but I have enjoyed endless hours of entertainment from your escapades (including your previous incarnation that got kicked off the boards). I personally haven't had any issues with this feature, and have converted a league from 12 to 13 to 14 with no issues. That said, I disagree with the sentiment in this post.

One of the things about OOTP that makes it significantly superior to most other similar (or even dissimilar) games on the market is the very capability to move saved games from version to version. Referring to the utilization of that same capability as "asking for trouble" seems to indicate that users should not expect one of the key differentiating features of the game (and one of the biggest reasons to purchase it every year, by the way, as one gets to add new features into existing, often excruciatingly-customized leagues) to actually work, and I think that would be a problem. Obviously, after a certain number of versions, you'd expect some "copy of a copy of a copy" problems (The Asgard problem, as I'm sure TheGame will appreciate), but over 3-5 versions or so, I'd expect the game to work as advertised, not for a primary feature to be considered too risky/flaky to be used.

Ignore Double Split. I've been asking about this off and on for the last three versions. I don't think it works and if you can make it work somewhere, good for you, but I'll keep asking for it to be more meaningful or if it is, just where and get it documented. When? I have no idea.

Lineup screen, in or out of game, Substitution Screen in-game, etc.. I can't find a place where using the Split dropdown failed to give me what I want to see. So, for now, IMO, unless you can present something otherwise, it's not useless, it just needs used in the right manner. Double Split, I'll give you, might be useless. Never had much luck using it on in any screen. If others have, post here and help me. Otherwise, I'll be dogging that issue in the look-see phase for v15. On to the next.

When you say 'get to the next season', what do you mean? Before the Opening Day? After? During the next season's play? I'm confused. It will show you last season stats until there IS a this year's stat. But I'm sure you know that. I'll check on the Glenbard series tonight when I get a minute. Trying to get a last look-see at the update before it's out, too.

And this is hard to follow, too. The system works or it doesn't. I can't think of a reason it would work in one series and not in another.
