League File Ingame Update Problems
I posted the below over in the general discussion, I hope someone over here can help.
---------------- Hi, I hope someone else has encountered this issue and can help. I have a league file loaded for an online league where the in-game date is April 1st 2013. Our league has now simmed 10 days. After I click the update league button in OOTP I get the nice screens prompting if I want to downlaod a new league file, the downlaod then starts, I wait a whie and get a message saying "Success. The league files have been updated. The new game date is 04/01/2013" So the league date hasn't changed in my game. If I now click update game in OOTP - it says "There is no updated league file on the server" even though we're at mid April. The commish has a league file up, everyone else (I think) in the league can see an updated version in game. Our reports have been updated as have the statslab utility we are using. Any thoughts or ideas on how to fix (or try to fix) this much appreciated. |

I did find out that there are owners that aren't having issues so I'm guessing there is a cache file/download somewhere causing everything to freak out. So can we try starting from scratch again? Delete the AFBL.lg folder in your saved_games folder and also delete any downloaded League Files from your computer and browser (maybe delete browser cache/cookies as well). Then download the League File from the forum (http://www.afblbaseball.com/afbl/leaguefile/AFBL.lg.zip), extract into your saved_games folder, open up the AFBL league in OOTP14, then 'Check for Updated League File' in the game first. Then tried having them delete their 'settings' folder from the AFBL.lg folder on his computer, download the zipped version from my pc (commish), and then extract into his AFBL.lg folder. Any thoughts? |

As a past Commish, my experience with this has been to do the following:
Delete the entire league folder from your computer. Re-download it and unzip as if it was the first time. Re-Download the gmaccount settings file. Open the league in OOTP and do an in game update. This should work. |

He should delete all remnants of the league from his OOTP folder first. Let us know if it works ok. |

Do I need to upload an updated full lg file? The one that is uploaded is from the beginning of Opening Day (April 1st) and we're 1 sim in (April 11th is the current game date, sim 10 game days 3 days a week, next is Wed morning).

As a Commish, I always kept a backup of the original lg file, at the end of each season I uploaded a new copy to the website so it was fairly current. Of course I made backups at other various points during the season too, like trade deadline, ST, opening day, etc etc. Can never have enough back-ups imo. I'm overkill when it comes to that, but it's saved me plenty of times. Yes, in the settings folder should be a file named "accountsGM.dat" or gmaccounts, something like that. He needs that file and after he unzips the downloaded league file, he puts that in the settings folder. If not, he will not show up as a GM when he tries to log in. You should give him a copy of the most recent gmaccounts file though. It's less than a KB so you can email it or whatever. Last edited by Bluenoser; 06-04-2013 at 01:27 PM. |

Tried all of that with no luck.
Brand new install of OOTP, re-downloded the original league file, emptied all settings files and loaded a new gmaccounts file. Also deleted all league update files from the import_export folder. I also tried playing around with active and passive FTP, while also selecting the "download using html" in online settings. I'm really stumped with this. |

Of course as soon as I say I'm stumped, I find out that my router and my ISP don't speak to each other very well.
A quick upgrade of my router's firmware and all is working fine now, hooray! |

Glad you got it working. After your last post (previous to last) I was really getting stumped.
Happy OOTP'ing

Sorry to bring up an old topic, but it seems I'm having just about the same exact problem right now. I posted a topic about it was as well. I'm not very tech savvy. What did he do to solve the problem? Everything on my computer seems to be working fine. Even for other big applications.
