Era settingg for new league.
I'm thiniking of starting a new fictional league. I really like the players and stories and history that I've gotten in my league but the stats are too offensively for my taste.
A-Rod is 39 and has a shot at 900 home runs, although I think he is going to fall slightly short. He needs 35 more. Anyway I'm thinking of either trying to mirror the 50-60''s time period or the early 80's when teams like the Cardinals could compete. I don't think the game is flawed, I think it is more of the fact that if baseball stays as offensive as it has been long term you very well might see guys hit 800 home runs. If anyone has some good era settings for either, or both of these time periods please let me know. I could test it out but that was such a pain the last time I did that. |

HolyCow98,
I did quite a bit of testing a while back and fine tuned some era settings for fictitional leagues for those who like to mirror real life era settings. Henry has them posted at Bigcitybaseball.com. Feel free to check them out. I believe they are posted under the reference section under Era settings: fictitional leagues.

Thanks guys, I'll check out Henry's site.
I read TigerFan's thread, and while I definately have faith in his system, I'm not sure it would work if you used real stadiums. He uses A American League park and A National League park. For a historical replay this is best as it gives you more influence and control of the stats produced reaching a certain desired total. I still might give em try just to see. I just have to do something, using the default settings is fun until at the end of the season I look at the team totals and Colorado hit 307 Homeruns as a team. That made me cringe. |

Using different parks, if you balance them out, shouldn’t disturb TigerFan’s method. The exact percentages of the adjustments will differ of course, but they would anyway. The game can’t tell the difference between an imaginary park and a real one.
