I've read many a post which answered most of my questions but haven't seen the answer to the coaching problem.

The pre-existing staff's philosophy is directly opposite of mine as is the scouting director. Suggestions?

Also when I have the managers do the lineups they are idiots??? Prospects sit the bench, slumping players don't get a day off, closers pitch 5 days in a row no matter the game situation and multiple innings.

If the staff's philosophy was more in line with mine would some of these issues go away? Also is the only fix to keep lineups under my control so guys get ABs and innings?

You can use the various settings and sliders to try to make the AI manage the team more to your liking. You can also use 7-day lineups to force the AI to use your selections. Otherwise, your only recourse is to handle all the lineups and pitching staff yourself, which is typically what I do.

You can set the lineups and pitchers for a new game, but once you get to the game screen, you can tell OOTP to autosim the whole game.
