All Things NHL 2012-2013 Edition

The Blackhawks are undefeated so far.
Goalie controversy in Vancouver after one game.
Detroit doesn't look like the well-oiled machine of old.
Pierre McGuire is still weird as ever.

Hooray for Hockey

Surfing 3 games right now

Blue Jackets / Wings right now.

Jackets are playing well, lots of hustle.
Stands are full, can't see an empty seat - this in Columbus so well done to Jacket fans.

Sens / Panthers

Good flow to the game, I'm impressed with how much Spezza has matured the last couple seasons. He used to be somewhat lazy and made bad giveaways but he's stepped up his game a lot.

Blues / Preds

This game is great, really nice flow. I think the Blues are going be very competitive this year. Barry Trotz is an amazing coach, no matter what they give him for players he always has the Preds in the thick of things. He does more with less better than most.

I talked to friends in DC and Tennessee who attend lots of Capitols and Predators games. Both of them told me that single game tickets are very hard to get.

It appears the lock out did not dampen fan enthusiasm.

Yep. Hawks are 2-0 on the road. There power play looks good so far.

Short season, but still too early to evaluate them.

At least, Hossa looks like the player he used to be.

Ryan Miller absolutely owns Toronto.

That's the only way you can stop him! Miller is awesome.

The Sabres are playing much more physical hockey in the first 2 games than we've seen in many years.

And if anyone even looks at Miller the wrong way...they're clobbering the opponent...I love it.

Some nice young players on this team and Vanek is off to a hot start.

"Lets go, Buffalo!"

Good games last night, Blues n Hawks was tight, especially in the 3rd when the Blues got within 1. I was impressed with Crawford, he looks solid in goal. I know the critics were questioning the Hawks goaltending, but so far (I know, only 3 games) it looks good.

Got to witness both Galchenyuk and Yakupov score their first NHL goals.

Galchenyuk wasn't exactly a highlight reel, it went off his mid section and in, still good for the kid to get that 1st one.

Yakupov's goal was pure beauty. A sweet pass from Gagner and a 1 timer. Too bad the Oilers didn't show up in the 1st period. Sharks look good early on this season. I know it's early, but with only 48 games, getting off to a good start is critical.

Crawford has a tendency to go down early, but he bailed himself out a couple times last night. That being said, he has been solid and no complaints thus far for the year. Emery is the guy I am more worried about, I guess the trade for Henrik Karlson was to stiffen the competition in the organization for the back-up job. Defensively, the Hawks have been better but still inconsistent. At least this team will be able to score in bunches.

That Brunner shoot out goal the other night was pretty sweet. Classic top 10 material.

Pens/Leafs - Great flow to this game, good action both ways. Awesome scrap between Orr and Engelland, lasted a minute n 10 seconds with neither player going down. They just quit once they were exhausted. Engelland has a mouse under his eye but both players got some good shots in.

Absolutely brutal no-goal for Columbus. No reason it should have been called off.

Bad no goal call. Columbus Blue Jackets vs Chicago Blackhawks. Jan 26th 2013 - YouTube

They looked like rotten ass in those two games against Carolina.

How about Dougie Hamilton? I know it's early, but I seriously feel like this kid is going to be the next great defender in the NHL, hands down. If anyone's gotten the chance to see any of the Bruins' games this year, it is abundantly obvious. He looks like a seasoned vet out there.

The next Bobby Orr, maybe?

Well, let's not go that far just yet.

I wouldn't be surprised if he was the next Ray Bourque, though.

Sounds good. I was a Bobby Orr fan, so a man can dream, right?
