All-Star Weekend

Which All-Star Games are your favorite? Take into consideration the events that go with it, such as the HR Derby, Slam Dunk, whatever they do in the NHL, etc.

MLB, cause I love baseball lol. Also, in the NHL they don't play defense, in the NFL they don't hit hard, in the NBA they don't play defense, there ya go. I love the Home Run Derby. I liked the NBA festivities this year though.

MLB All Star game is the only one I consider a "can't miss"
The others are bore-fests in my opinion, even the Pro Bowl.

sccobz touched on why MLB All Star game is my far and away favorite...aside form Selig's meddling, the game is played essentially the same as it is the rest of the year (with more player substitutions). The other sport's AS games are played quite differently than a regular season game is played.

And as far as the "extras" associated with the games -- no thanks. Slam Dunk contest? How many different dunks can they come up with. Home Run Derby? Boooring!

Obviously MLB is going to win since this is a baseball board. I prefer the NBA, followed by MLB and NHL. The Pro Bowl isn't even on the map for me. I like the NBA because, despite the lack of defense normally, the game allows the players to really put on a show for the fans, which is something that can't be done quite as well in any of the other sports. Also, the NBA All-Star game can be a suspenseful game sometimes, as was shown tonight.

There should be an option for none

. But if I had to choose I'd pick NHL, followed by the NBA. I'm kind of sick at all the players getting voted in by the fans and deciding there's something better to do on that day.

And this whole Carter/Jordan fiasco is just plain bull. Carter got voted in he should of started. All-Star games and the controversey behind them are simply a waist of time, for the most part.

Technically, MLB doesn't have an 'All-Star Weekend', but I guess 'All-Star Monday through Wednesday' doesn't have that same sort of ring to it.

I am looking forward to trying to snag some ticket to next year's game here in Houston.

I really don't like any of the all-star games, but if I had to choose, baseball is the best. Part of my problem is the fan voting, I want to see the players who deserve to be all-stars, not ones who have been injured all year. In hockey 5 of the 12 starters didn't even deserve to be all-stars let alone make the starting team.

I would normally say baseball but I have to agree with Joe Canadian on this one. The reason I now put the NBA/NHL above MLB's is because I realize just how meaningless the allstar games are now so it is hard to watch any of them. At least in the NBA/NHL games though there is a chance for players to dazzle the crowd with their skills that they can't normally show in a regular game. There isn't really a way to do this in MLB games.

Actually I think another reason baseball has fallen behind for me is that I used to watch it to see the big homerun guys get up and hopefully show what they could do. Now that the homerun is so common in baseball it is totally devalued in my mind. It still amazes me to see them blast a towering shot out but the regular shots just don't seem so awe inspiring anymore.

If the allstar games meant something I would put MLB first because I enjoy that sport more. As it is they are just a way to exhibit the skills of the top stars and so I have to give the nod to the NHL/NBA where it is a better stage for that.
