Do you have "THAT GUY"

That has a 10/10 power, but horrible contact.. so when you are playing a game and he's up to bat you cringe when the PbP starts scrolling by and he has a 2 strike count, but on times when he doesn't have a 2 strike count you think.... this ball could leave the yard!

My "THAT GUY" just hit a 3 run HR in Game 4 of the World Series in the bottom of the 11th inning, down by 1 run, to tie the series up at 2-2!

He pretty much either strikes out, or hits a bomb..

I hate THAT GUY most of the time. Usually just when I start to reach the end of the rope and think he's got to go, he's just not worth it anymore he'll hit a big home run. Not usually THAT big though.

This makes me think of Dave Kingman. Back in the day when I was playing Avalon Hill's Statis-Pro, he was always my cloud-or-an-out guy. Yeah, THAT guy, but I did enjoy always having the hope.

Exactly who I thought of. In OOTP that's also been how Nick Swisher seems to bat too, at least when he's on my team.

I had 1 "That Guy" in a defunct league 10 POW 4 CON 4 EYE 6 Avoid K 4 GAP. Hit .196 35 HR 92 RBI in 145 G. in his 3rd overall season for me. I would have loved this guy if he had been a 1B, instead he was my 2B. I traded him away for a 2B who could bat lead and a MR prospect. In 11 seasons his highest avg was around .211, hit over 30 HR in 8 seasons, other 3 were injury plagued seasons. Reminded me of Adam Dunn except he was a 2B and rightie. I did nick name him Donkey.

Had a guy in a v13 league that hit like .404 for his career. He his over .400 something like 7 or 8 times in his career.

Note to self: Princess Kenny was really off-putting.

I had a guy like this in one league. He hit 50+ HRs annually, but always had an OBP below .300. He was a true two outcomes player: strikeout or homerun. He hardly ever managed anything else. I wish I had screenshots, but one season more than 60% of his hits were home runs.

I'm picturing you looking like your avatar when you were "reading" the opening post.

I have had some of these. If they walk, they stay. If they don't, they go.

I had one back in version 11 that hit under .230 but had an OBP over .400 I think 3 times in a 17 year career. His career OBP was north of .375.
I had never seen anyone hit under .250 have a OBP that high. Pretty damn impressive.
