Trade Settings

Simply put i suck at and/or just don't understand how trades work. My settings are Low/Hard/Nuetral. I set them that way because i've always read that anything less than Hard and it's too easy to take advantage of the A.I. I've owned several versions of the game i can count on my hands how many trades i've made collectively from version to version. For example, as a test i'll try to trade a 60+ rated (on 80 scale) player, .270/15-25 hr guy for 30ovr potential Low-A guy and i'll get the " This is not a fair deal for us" message. I've tried at different points like before the trade deadline, at the deadline and the offseason. No dice.

Now i do not want to be able to just fleece the A.I. anytime i want but what is it that i'm doing wrong or don't understand about trading?

What does everyone have their trade settings set to?

The only thing that I can think of and it could be wrong is this, the guy you're trying to 'test trade' does he have an expensive/long contract and what are the finances like for the other team? But as I said not sure if that's the answer.

Well i was only trying teams that had projected budget room of 10mil or more because the guy i was testing made 11mil a year but the contract is only for this current season and he has a player option for the next. He's 30yrs old, 6/6/5 batting, rates 6 in both corner OF spots, errors, arm, and 5 in range. Also, a 6/8/8 guy in the running dept. I play on 2-8 scale. Statistically he's a minus in ZR in the field which factors into why i can afford to part with him. Like i said i was just putting him out there as a feeler and couldn't get anything done.

Don't always believe everything you read.

Since v13, I've been using AVG/AVG/NEUTRAL and trades have been about what I would expect in real life.

Nothing wrong with trying out different settings as everyone always has their own opinions about certain parts of the game - like mine here.

Markus really improved the trade AI in v13. Some trades I've made later down the road were horrible by me, some were even and yet a few I came out with the better deal. Seems about normal to me.

I also have the AI player evaluations set to 40/30/20/10 and for the AI to rate players according to those settings instead of true ratings.
