Historical League Questions
I have 2 questions.
1-I plan on starting in the 80s, will players who weren't in the league yet still show up when they are supposed to? For example will A-Rod still be in the 1993 amateur draft? And if so, will he still be drafted by Seattle, or will it be random based upon the AI and the draft order for that season? 2-Will players play differently? For example, I assume Bonds or Pujlos or whoever would be 5 star potential, is it possible for them to fall short of that? Or are their final rating hard coded? Ultimately I want a different timeline, I want the same players, but in different situations, does Bonds stay with Pittsburgh? What if the Yankees traded a young Pettitte instead of Sterling Hichcock for Tino Martinez? Things like that. Thanks in advance |

Using a Gambo/Spritz DB he would show up the year he was drafted. PM Spritz for more Info on his DB. No player whether they are Joey Cora or Barry Bonds will ever perform in OOTP as they did IRL. Bonds for me in 2003 is on the Padres and has 693 HR (approx). In other league I have had Bonds did have over 763 HR. Mark McGwire did not hit 600, nor did Thome. Maddux does not have 354 wins. I did just have Todd Helton win back to back Triple Crowns and hit .399 in the 2nd one. Carlos Delgado also won a Triple Crown and had 67 HR. It all depends on how you play the game. Some players will come close to what they did IRL, some may suffer a CEI, some, very few will exceed what they did IRL. Many pre 1900 pitchers will have twice as many K's as RL but the same amount of IP. Players will get traded and you will think to yourself...WWWWHHYY? Paul Konerko just got traded to ATL for Wilson Betemit and some scrub pitcher. In 2002 he hit .270 35 HR 112 RBI. Betemit .231 or so. In my current league 2003, started in 1999 here are some notable players and their new teams: Randy Johnson, BAL Alex Rodriguez, PIT Mark McGwire, ANA Greg Maddux, TB Tom Glavine, NYY Bonds, SD Pettite, NYM While i don;t have real owners in i do have mostly real GM's and the owners patience and spending mirror their real life counterparts. PIT owner has a patience of 7 and spending on 4. A-Rod makes 13 mil x 6 yrs. Last edited by The Game; 04-15-2013 at 03:51 PM. |

One thing you'll want to be certain of is to not use recalc in the league set-up. That is the primary setting that will cause players to perform pretty close to reality (barring injury and the like, of course).

Agh I had forgotten about that. I use recalc since I use a mix of real MLB and several fictional leagues. Without recalc on for my fictional leagues it messes things up.
