Wheat Threatens DiMaggio's Record
By far the longest hit streak i have ever experienced in OOTP. Unfortunately, Wheat's streak is stuck at 47 as he sits on the DL. Although this technically spans two seasons will be interesting to see if he tops 56. Right now it is the record in my league's history by 13 games.

And just like that - it is over. Hitless upon returning to the lineup from the DL in 4 AB's. Orioles should have sent him to AAA for a rehab stint before throwing him back to the wolves...

Nothing against this fictional player, but I'm glad to see that he didn't break the record. Something about stretching the streak over two seasons would ruin the record for me.

I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that DiMaggio set the record entirely during the 1941 season.
Like I said, I'm open to the possibility that I'm wrong... |

Joe DiMaggio holds the Major League Baseball record with a streak of 56 consecutive games in 1941 which began on May 15 and ended July 17.

Also, the database has a small error. Wheat was a tried and true Midwest boy. He was born in Missouri, not New Jersey.
And I apologize if it seems like I was picking on some forum members. I was just having a bit of fun. I have a passion for deadball era history and Wheat is one of my favourite players. He was a fantastic hitter and also one of the nicest and kindest men to ever play the game. If you want to brush up on your knowledge of the deadball era and have some fun doing it. I cannot more highly recommend these two books. Also, how many players had an offseason job raising and selling mules to the US government during WW1?
I love deadball history

What tends to be forgotten about DiMaggio is that back in 1933 he had a 61-game hitting streak while playing for San Francisco in the Pacific Coast League.

Speaking of streaks across multiple seasons, the record DiMaggio broke was Willie Keeler's 45 game streak from 1896-97.

The longest hitting streak of all was 69 games, set by Joe Wilhoit in the Western League in 1919.
