March 27 Database Update Now Available

Today's data update for the FHM Beta is now available:

Unzip the file and copy the contents into your quickstart_games directory (make sure that the game is not running). This will typically be:

C:\Users\(your username)\Documents\Out of the Park Developments\Franchise Hockey Manager 2014\data\quickstart_games

Overwrite the existing files (they'll replace the contents of your Majors.Quick and Historical.Quick directories; graphics files like team logos will not be overwritten.)

You'll have to start a new game for the data to be updated, they won't affect saves at all. Note that this is a data update only, there are no changes/fixes to the game code.

Since data updating is a continuous process involving 20+ people each making thousands of edits every week, there's too much going on for it to be possible to post a complete list of changes with these updates. However, some notable changes this week are:

-players who debuted in 1983-84 and 1984-85 added to historical database
-NHL transactions up-to-date as of Tuesday, March 26
-average salary levels adjusted in some leagues

Leagues/countries with changes this update: NHL, AHL, ECHL, NCAA, OHL, QMJHL, KHL, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Slovakia, Sweden, UK. Note that not all of these leagues are currently playable.

When will there be realistic player stats? Where Crosby will average 1,5 PPG? Gretzky will be around 2 PPG etc? As of now, hardly any player can keep up with a PPG.. Is it due to the database or something with the player engine (too few assists)? This is actually my major issue with the game atm.

Mainly the engine. It's good at getting the overall team goal totals close to the mark, but falls down a bit on the way they're distributed amongst the players, particularly first-liners. Some of it is out of bugginess (scoring for defencemen being much too low at the moment, for example) but the AI also needs to be smarter about how it combines line usage and strategy - I don't want it to go into full Alain Vigneault mode where the top line starts three-quarters of its shifts in the offensive zone, but it should be putting its scorers in a position to score more often.

There's also a database element to it, because most of the players are leaning heavily on the template system at the moment. As ratings get more individualized, the stars will get a bit more effective offensively.

One thing that's not implemented at the moment, though, is accurate yearly historical goals/game, so that'll have a big impact on things like Gretzky's numbers in the early 80's. I gave Sebastian the data for those a while ago, it's just a matter of him getting the time to code a system that'll change the numbers annually.

I buy yesterday FHM beta version game , and now i have problem with that lisence key. I try to put it on , but it allways says : activation error try few a minutes later. And if i wait that few minutes and try again , then i have same problem, what i have to do?

Try right clicking on the exe icon, then select "Run as Admin".

make sure you dont have it installed on more then 2 pc's also

It won't hurt to install it again if you do, but if you want to be sure you can check your

C:\Users\(your username)\Documents\Out of the Park Developments\Franchise Hockey Manager 2014\data\quickstart_games

directory and see if the most recent files are from March 27. If there's nothing that new, you don't have it yet. Or you can just start a game and check if Brenden Morrow's on the Penguins; if he is, you've got the update.
