Exclamation Mogul Baseball or OOTP Baseball?

This is the first time I purchased a Hockey Sim from the producers of OOTP. I am trying to figure out if I should give OOTP 14 a chance. I love Baseball mogul so much that I just don't want to try another Baseball Sim.

In your honest opinion which game is better? Mogul or OOTP, and please list as to why you think OOTP is better then Mogul or vice versa.

Try and persuade me to come over to the dark side

OOTP, far away. It's the most realistic ball sim @ the market. Indeed, it's the best.

I uh... will say *ducks* that Mogul *dodges tomato* is not without its charms - the presentation is very clean, and while some people live for the minutia of managing the minors and all, Mogul is a little less 'hardcore' and that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's a very good sim in its own right, and a nice experience.

Am I shunned? I came here for FHM. I'm a hockey guy more than a baseball guy, in fact until this last year, I was more of a 'just any kind of sports management' guy than a baseball guy (which means, yes, I was playing OOTP and Mogul without any real appreciation of the sport.)

I'm not a huge baseball stats guy and watch the blue jays occasionally but what i enjoy about ootp over mogul is the customization and creating my own league and universe. I really never have any intention of playing modern day in either game but if you do i hear mogul is great for it. Nothing beats ootp customization though.

Markus simply makes the best baseball sim out there. Hands down. Bar none. No doubt. Utter dominance.

OOTP = Cadillac (Loaded with everything, creme de la creme)

Baseball Mogul = Volkswagen Beetle (Fun little sim, nothing serious and makes you smile)

Played both and for me, and what I am looking for in a baseball game, OOTP is by far the better game. The depth, the realism of stats, the responsiveness to fixing issues, the solid community of mod makers, etc... The VW v. Caddy analogy is spot on.

I guess it depends on what you are looking for. I have played OOTP for years while my brother has the other game. There has been many times where he has wished his game would add a function that OOTP has had for years. I have far more control and customization than he has.. far more.

He seems to enjoy his game just fine... but when I tell him about stuff I can do he always says "cool".

Sheesh, BusterKing, I would hate to ask what kind of vehicle is PureSim

Without a Doubt, OOTP, is the Gold Standard of PC Baseball ... I've owned all the current Trier of the Baseball Games ... OOTP is NOT for the Faint of Heart ... The Immersion of the Game speak for itself ... It's a Major League Game ... where the Mogul is AAA ... PureSim is Single A, but a load of fun ..

As mentioned, it depends what you want. It's been a long while since I played Mogul. It is definitely easier to play. Though truthfully, the most memorable thing about it was that I could set the hot dog prices, not the baseball aspect.

Though at this point, if you want lighter I would recommend iOOTP.

I also played Mogul for several years and was a little intimidated by the sheer amount of options available in OOTP. I finally gave it a chance last year and actually finished 2 seasons before getting bored (I won back to back World Series with the Tigers and mainly got bored because the real baseball season had ended and hockey was starting....or so I thought).

OOTP is definitely not for the faint of heart, but if you love a deep and customizable baseball game that is the one to get. Mogul is more of a pick up and play game; but for me, after playing OOTP, I will not go back to Mogul again.

To be honest, I always played Baseball Mogul... since I discovered OOTP baseball. By far a more complete and funny game.

I'm just wondering why on earth there is a thread discussing which Baseball Sim is better in a Forum soley intended for use with a Hockey Game that is still in Beta?

Are there not 6 other Forums on this site that would be better suited for this thread?

Yeep.

OOTP has good enough auto-managers that it can be played without the minutia if you wish. It's a significantly more realistic simulation.

Baseball Mogul is McDonalds. Quick and easy, but not that satisfying if you have standards.

Hey guys, I have a question for you!
If I want to start a sim league on a forum, is it better to play with OOTP or Mogul? I mean wich game is easier to post the rosters, stats, games and all this stuff?

Yep but you have to turn off your OCD to appreciate these threads.
