Arizona Diamondbacks 2013 Thread (The Snake Pit)
Brandon Webb brought a lot of good memories to Arizona, he was an excellent sinkerball pitcher that was fun to watch. I still have his poster hanging up in my game room from 2008, and it isn't coming down any time soon. Too bad it had to end like this for him.

Gotta say, I'll be rooting for the Snakes this year in the NL West because of Brandon McCarthy. He's pretty much an awesome d00d.

If not for that one start in 2009, Webb would have been one of only 5 pitchers to win 20 games in their final year.
Can you name the 4 without looking them up?

Honestly the only one I thought of off the top of my head was Sandy Koufax but I wasn't 100% sure, I had to look it up and it seems there are actually 9 pitchers who have won at least 20 games in their last season throughout history.

Signed Gerardo Parra 2.5 Mil 1 year contract
D-backs have a good track record of not going to arbitration so I don't see this as a surprise, especially considering that Parra is a solid outfielder, team player, he has a good attitude and a fairly decent bat for the lineup. I wonder if Parra will get a full time position and a stable contract in the future?

I did mention "without looking them up" in hopes of giving as many people who wanted a chance to guess though

Shoot, sorry man! That would have been interesting too. I'm going to blame that on not having finished my first cup of coffee yet...

Aaron Hill Signs Three Year, $35 Mil Extension
Report: Aaron Hill Signs Three Year, $35 Million Extension - AZ Snake Pit
Hey why not, he hit for the cycle twice last year and is one of the best offensive players in the lineup. Last year he had over 600 AB's with a .302 BA, 26 HR's, 85 RBI's and a .882 OPS. |

Barajas is Back
D-backs signed Rod Barajas to a minor league contract on Friday. Remember him? Mike Mussina does, Barajas hit a 5th inning 2 run shot off of him in the 2001 World Series game 5. Is it possible we could have a member of the WS champion D-backs on the 2013 active roster??? Next is a call to... you know... Curt Schilling.

Brandon McCarthy's first outing
Brandon McCarthy pitched in his first ST game and his first game since being hit in the head by a batted ball last year. He has made a full recovery from that incident which caused a skull fracture and a brain contusion. McCarthy allowed 1 run on 3 hits with 4 strikeouts in 2 innings of work. Arizona picked him up off the free agents list in December. Good to see him back on the mound, and in a D-backs uniform. I think McCarthy will be a solid addition to the rotation for the 2013 campaign.
