Would anybody watch a video commentary style OOTP Dynasty?
Hey guys! I've been on the OOTP forums for a few years now but I've just started up this account to go with the youtube gaming channel that I am creating.
One of my favorite games is OOTP, so while I am waiting for my PVR to arrive in the mail I am thinking about starting up a dynasty. However, I would be recording my computer screen with commentary. Is this something that any of you guys would actually be interested in watching? Thanks! Any opinions are appreciated! Last edited by BigDuff; 01-22-2013 at 11:56 PM. |

I would like to see something like this, as I haven't seen something like it before. Good luck (if you do this).

Thanks guys, I think i'm gonna give it a shot! I will post a link to it once i make it...
Do you guys think MLB or fictional would be more entertaining? I plan to sim the games out and get many seasons in as a build a dynasty. |

I usually like fictional leagues better, but I would do an MLB league just so the audience kind of has a feel for the players already. However, I'd be fine with either type. Good luck!

There are some videos out there, but none that are that in-depth and long. Not that I would be one to tell you what to do, but I was always interested in watching someone managing a game and explaining why they do what they do. A little humor doesn't hurt. But managing EVERY game would take forever. For good pace, I think a game every 2 weeks would be good along with explanations on how the team is doing, how the league is doing, trades, signings, why they are good/bad, etc etc etc.
But yeah, I am interested. Baseball nerd like that. |

This could be good if done well, but I've seen quite a number of gaming videos with this approach, and most of them fail miserably. They're interminably boring.
If you have or can develop some decent post-production skills and take a more highlighted approach to your videos, including lively commentary and some well-crafted structure and planning, you could potentially do a great service to promoting the game. It would be great to see some really good videos in this area for once. My biggest tip of all is one that applies to all video production: get to the content! Don't waste time on a lengthy intro. Keep intros to a matter of seconds, and don't use them at all if you can help it. I can't begin to count how many videos there are with potentially excellent content that are abandoned within 15 to 30 seconds because the viewers are subjected to an unnecessary and uninspired introduction. It's an epidemic that plagues user-generated content and even a lot of professionally produced pieces. |

Yep, ditto what Hough said. The best user-created online content is brief and entertaining.

I love watching sports game videos like these. As long as they are entertaining anyway. My favourite currently is itsblackjacksmedia. His videos are just so good.

I would watch this if the Dynasty would otherwise be interesting to me. I read or skim any that aren't purely fictional. (And if yours is purely fictional I will likely watch the first one and that is it.)

I'd be interested, especially if it's a fictional league and you aren't managing out EVERY game (as previously stated, that would take too long). Best of luck either way!

You didn't happen to go by the nickname of Fat Norman in Las Vegas back around the late 80's early 90's did you? You look just like that friend of mine who I used to play MicroLeague Baseball in a Motel room with back then. Plus I used to enjoy watching him eat at a buffet.
