WEBF (World Electronic Boxing Federation)

Setup
the curresnt setup has weight divisions ranging from Straweight all the way up to Lightweight for now. I do intend to add from Junior welter to heavy in the future, but wanted to run a trial with the lower weights so as to test out my system.

Matches and venues
Matches to begin with are setup that higher rated boxers can build up their records, no point in having a champion who has 25 losses to his name but is still a champion, kind of unrealistic IMO, so on that basis all fighters with a rating of 7 or above, are matched in the beginning against fighters with a rating of 3 or under. this builds up their records for the first 10 fights required to create their ranking. Fighters between 4 and 6 are then matched up with fighters 3 and under, and finaly once the fighters have a ranking title fights are drawn up by matching only fighters with a top 5 ranking. Basically you have to be a top 5 fighter to have a crack at title.
Venues are drawn at random.

Fighters
Although the fighters are fictitious names, their nationalities and amount per division are fairly real to life. Eg There is very few Japanese or Thai fighters above Featherweight. However there are a fair number when you go down the weights to Straweight. Mexicans are spread all over the weights and their are fewer American boxers and British boxers until you reach the bigger weights. It would be unrealistic for a Thai boxer to lift the Heavyweight title, as much as it would be unrealistic to expect that there would be no Filipino, Thai or Japanese boxers at flyweight for example.

Current Stage
At the moment I am still in the process of getting the fighters to ranking stage. Some have reached the 10 fight ranking while others are still a way back, makes it realistic i suppose in that you have a developed champion and up and comingfighters. Some weights have champions others yet do not. For the sake of argument I have setup 4 divisions (WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO). So each weight in effect will have 4 title holders.

Ill try to do updates by weight rather than as a weekly skim over of the various weights, so as to help you build an affinity with the various fighters, and because people will have their favourite weight categories im sure. Some appreciate heavyweights, while others like the middleweights and so forth.

Ill also try to post up an update of how British fighters are fairing in each division.

I would like for you guys to have some interaction so please feel free to interact and post up any fights you would like to see, or maybe you would like to run the career of one of the British fighters for example (eg select his fights, choose when he fights for title and who he fights. Most important fact is that you enjoy the storyline.

So to get us started lets catch up with the goings on in the Strawweight category.

Current Champions
WBA Ricardo Aguillon 10-0-1(3) WBO Jan Nortje 10-0-2

Main contenders
Cesar De Leon 9-2-1(1), Angel Dominguez 9-0-1(1), Diego Serrano 9-2-0(1), Naoki Kawaguichi 9-1-0(3)

Upcoming
Ernan Pastor 9-0-0(4), Salvador Solis 7-0-0(1), Joji Nakashima 9-0-0(3), Shunsuke Miya****a 9-0-0(3)

Recent Events
Ricardo Aguillon captured the WBA title in what was expected to be a closely fought match up with Puerto Rican Doego Serrano. The fighters matched each other blow for blow, but it was Aguillons superior punching power that saw him earn a TKO when the ref stopped the fight in round 9 after Serrano had a cut above his eye from repeated damage.

Jan Nortje and South American Cesar De Leon met twice in the space of three months for the WBO title. In a fight that De Leon was expected to win easily, Nortje overcame the odds on both occasions with a UD in fight one and a disputed MD in fight 2. To be fair it could have been anyones fight on either occasion, and although De leon earned himself a quick rematch after his late round outlassing in fight one, it was commonly felt by reporters and fight fans alike that he had done enough to beat Nortje in fight two. I sense that this will not be the last time these two meet up, and if they do fight again i would expect a KO by who ever wins. De Leon's record is now blemished with 2 defeats after a respectable start to his career, and although he will not fight again soon for a title, I do expect to see him again in title match up.

Ernan Pastor continued his impressive start to his career with a UD win against tough Nicaraguan Enrique Ramirez. It is proposed that a few more fights should see Pastor fighting for a title in this division. Whether he will fight bitter rival Arguillon is open to debate. The two do not like each other from their junior days, and it is an ongoing debate if the two will sort it out in the ring or not.
Nakashima and Miya****a continued their careers with stoppages to boost their now very impressive records, and now are now chasing down Kawaguichi to be the first Japanse champion at this category.
Other fights saw Mexican Raul Rosas take his tally to 8-0-0(2), while hard hitting South African Debebe Mukhwana took his tally to 8-0-1(3). Laos fighter Kaysone Phomvihan is another Asian fighter with an impressive career so far, taking his tally to 8-0-1(4).

Junior Flyweight

Current Champions
WBC Takuji Kobayashi 10-0-1(1) WBA Sergio Perez 9-0-2(4)

Main contenders
Wilson Racca 7-0-3(3), Cesar Valenzuela 8-2-1(1), Phillam Brillantes 8-2-1(1), Roberto Torres 7-2-2

Upcoming
Dennis Tancioco 8-0-0, Satoshi Shinigaki 7-0-0(2), Isagani Sexon 8-0-0(3), Sanchai sarawatjee 7-0-0, Juanito Robilar 7-0-0(4), Marvelo Cruz 7-0-0, Jose Apodaca 7-0-0, Kazuo Noguichi 8-0-1, Nobuhiro Ishada 8-01

Recent Events
Sergio Perez took the WBA belt in a world title fight against Rafael Gonzalez, in what had the media calling Perez a paper champion, and slating the quality of his opponent in the match up. Perez to be fair has taken advantage of the current poor rankings, that has seen a fair few lets say inferior contenders listed in the rankings. The fact that Perez completed a round 2 TKO after Gonzalez was floored three times in one round does little to dispel the media slating him and calling for him to fight someone of worth in this division.

Takuji Kobayashi decided not to follow Sergio Perez' lead when he captured the WBC belt in a hard fought match v Phillam Brillantes. the scorecards were close going into round 10, but two brilliant rounds saw Kobayashi grab a UD against the resilient Filipino. Talk in the media that Brillantes wants a rematch, but its more likely Kobayashi will fight one of the three Japanse fighters who are upcoming in this diviion.

The story of this division is the battle there is going to be between the Japanese and Filipino fighters. Tancioco, Sexon, Robilar and Cruz are definite candidates for title fights in the future, and Filipinos must be excited that they can have 4 fighters here on the cards who can dominate this weight. Japan meanwhile have a world champion already, and have another 3 fighters coming through. However Sarawatjee of Thailand is a very capable party spolier, who the media are hyping up to be a strong candidate to win at least one world title at this weight.

Not exactly a strong division, dont see the fighters here dominating or winning titles at various weights, nor do i see one particular fighter dominating this division. Expect to see the titles change hands regularly between any one of 10 fighters, really needs an infusion of fresh talent this weight to challenge the ten or so who are currently dominating. Robilar and Cruz are the current crowd favourites, knocking out 4 of their 7 opponents so far, but they have not fought anyone of note yet.
