Problems with changing team abbr. in game?

anyone know if this would cause any quirky problems changing a team's abbr. at the end of a year, right before proceeding? I want to do this b/c 3 of my teams have diff. abbr. from what they are in Cato's utility and I have to change them every year with the new setup. Therefore, I want to change them in game to match Cato's utility but I want to make sure this wouldn't cause any issues.

It won't unless this is a historical league.

If it is an historic league, then changing the teams' abbreaviation will cause the real rookies to end up in the draft/free agent pool and not be properly assigned to those teams.

No it won't. I've changed NYN to NYY historically, and nothing has gone wrong.

If you are using real players and assigning rookies to their teams instead of holding a draft, changing the abbreviation within OOTP will cause that team's rookies to end up in the free agent pool and not be assigned (unless you also change the abbreviation in the Lahman database).

The abbreviation in the Lahman database must exactly match the abbreviation within OOTP for rookies to be properly assigned to their real life debut teams.
