Worst Free Agent Signing Ever?

After a .299 BA, 37 HR, 119 RBI season in 2012 with the Yanks Robinson Cano signed a 7-year, $137.8 million contract.

In 2013 he batted .236 with 7 HR and 26 RBI in 203 AB.
In 2014 he batted .143 in 56 AB,
In 2015 he went 0 for 4.

His history then says he retired on September 19, 2016. He had a few stints in the minors, but nothing notable at all, his ratings had dropped off drastically, despite no injuries of any sort.

Anyone seen worse?

I extended Bryce Harper for 5 years at $25 million (think that is the correct number), and he did great for the first half of the season. Problem was, after the All-Star break, he tore his labrum, couldn't come back from the injury, and promptly retired.

This was my center piece for a World Series run, and I had traded my best OF prospects for pitching and couldn't recover.

On a side note, I signed Yu Darvish for 5 years, $10 million, and he ERA after that was above 4.50 for the remainder of the years.

Note: Sorry, didn't see the free agent in your topic. So Darvish is one of my worst ones.

I signed this fictional guy to a 5-year, 138.75 million dollar contract when he was 30, after he hit pretty good in his years with Seattle, except for the lack of walks and tons of strikeouts. In 2162, he had a 6.1 WAR. In 2165, he had a -.2 WAR. I don't know what I was thinking when I kept him in my starting lineup. I ended up trading him after three years just to get him off my team.

Pictures: First is his first 7 years with Seattle, then is his 3 years with me (MIA).

This website made my pictures look connected, almost.
