Change the font?

Is it possible to change the in game font? It looks good, but since characters do not all take up the equal amount of space, what should be nice columns of numbers and data are displayed in a not so nice fashion.

I really notice it with figures with "."'s They are not justified to the ".", and so things like ERA and batting AVG,

I guess what I am trying to say is the columns wobble. Not even sure if having the ability to swap out the font a la Football manager would even help.

I took a picture, and the quality it seems got a bit trashed on the upload, but I drew some red lines along some of the columns that stand out to me that "wobbled". You can see how the data does not reach the same proximity to the red line.

It first caught my eye looking at a guys BNN page whole played a bunch of years for the same club, yet the "Team" column did not form a nice aligned column of text.

May not be a big deal for some, but it was just something that caught my eye, and figured I bring it up.

Wait, actually, you could do this... locate the "fonts" folder in the data folder of OOTP 13 and replace the ones you find with the ones from OOTP 12. That could actually work.

Good. In some places you may find overlapping text now, the font of OOTP 12 was a bit bigger than the new one.

It messes the player screen up for me. Tabs are blank, numbers are missing with the rating progress bar.

How did you install the fonts? Did you delete all the old ones first or did you do what I did, and just drag and replace the duplicates?

Because it seems that there is one file that is in the new set but not in version 12's. That maybe what is going on here.

I deleted the fonts folder of OOTP13 (after making a backup of course) and copy/paste the OOTP12 folder in the OOTP13 game.

This does not work well. You should have simply copied the ootp 12 font files into the ootp 13 font folder without deleting anything.

Hmmm why can't I find the data folder?

I added the OOTP 12 fonts into the 13 fonts and they do make a real difference except in the expanded batter and pitcher info on the Broadcast screen, the font is too big and the numbers jumble together for older players. Anyone know which specific font is used for those and can I use a smaller sized font for them?

One other small problem is the player boxes on screen, longer names extend out a little bit.

Thanks,

John

MtFF, I don't have a direct answer but I do have a suggestion if you're willing to spend the time. Try swapping out one font at a time to see which one does what. Obviously, you need to save the installed OOTP 13 fonts some place before you do this. It will take a while because you have to keep restarting the program. However, you just may end up with a combination of fonts that is the best of both versions.

EDIT: Interesting observation in that OOTP 13 has only 8 fonts while OOTP 12 has 14. I don't know what that means, but I can confirm that every OOTP 13 font has a counterpart version in OOTP 12.

OOTP13 has one unique font, and it is the one that is used for tabs and the top banner and stuff. That is why if you delete the v13 font folder and replace it with v12's, things go bad.

The ideal situation, at least in my eyes, would be a slightly adjusted v12 font that allows things to remain nice and aligned, but yet does not lead to the text run-ons.

Thanks for the ideas, I think that is my only option. I like the larger fonts, 12, they look much better, but I will have to find the one that is causing the problems. When I find it I'll post which one it is.

Agree and agree. You have to copy the same-named font from 12 to 13 and hope for the best. My suggestion is to do each one at a time and note what it does.

Also that the choice of fonts was the only drawback in the new UI. I can live with the dark skin for now, though.

EDIT: I needed to come back and clarify that last comment. The new UI is GREAT! The fonts just need to be tweaked a bit for better legibility. I know that's not as easy as it sounds, though. The fonts must fit certain screen section dimensions, I imagine.
