changing a player's position
what is the best way of going about this?
can an outfielder transition to first base easier than other positions for example? i'm just confused as to how the process works |

be cautious
Before changing a player's position, check his specific defense ratings (infielders have four, outfielders have three). If your OF is rated very poorly on infield skills, changing him to 1B is courting disappointment.
Rely on this more than on your real-life knowledge that aging corner outfielders usually wander to 1B Similarly, changing, say, a 1B to SS can be a big mistake -- his range and double-play abilities might be wholly inadequate. As a test, go to his overview screen, and change his position -- then see how (if) his overall/potential ratings change. Too much of a drop would be a warning sign. That aside, Sebastian in answer to a previous question has said that playing at a new position will usually, within limits, raise the player's ratings, but only if his starting talents are appropriate. Your portly catcher will likely not become a swift center fielder. |
