How much do managers really matter for human controlled teams?

I just can't bring myself to pay $1 mil per for a manager when I'm making all the decisions. Am I wrong here?

You can decide not to have an AI manager at all. However, be sure to pay yourself that million dollars. Otherwise, your team will have a financial advantage over everyone else.

It has been my impression that managers have a beneficial (or not, depending upon their ratings) on player development and performance. That's why I always stock my team with full personnel.

I'd like a somewhat definitive answer to this question, as well.

Me too..whats the point of having manager if you are playing as one. Would that money be saved.. Be nice if one could negotiate own contracts. Ootp 6 had it too bad it didn't stay.

If you play out your games, having a manager doesn't make sense to me.

I sim almost of all mine and having a good manager seems to be quite beneficial.

I'd actually like an answer on this as well. Do managers really have any impact on development? I suppose it would apply to the minors, assuming you don't manage those as well.

If turned on, managers have a small part in player development and performance. The specific amount has been left unknown by Markus on purpose but more than negligible and less than significant.

I would like to know this also...what happens if I fire my manager, and decide to take over all strategy decisions?

Good question. I have my manager set up pitching staffs and line ups once a month. I usually change them but I want to see what the computer does.

I don't think so...this is a part of OOTP that frustrates me. I wish it were possible to hire myself as the field manager. I guess you could simply not hire an manager, but then I wonder what the effect on development and coaching would be.

This is the only reason I play the game. I can put my multiple personalities to work.

I tried it once and I thought that I saw a small negative effect. Could have just been sample size, though.

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.
