Stamina? Not sure if Ace starting pitcher, or closer
I'm a noob to OOTP, so forgive me if this is a noob question. I drafted this guy with my first pick (suggested by the scouts, and he looked good to me).
![]() And I drafted this guy with my fifth pick (not suggested by the scouts). ![]() I sorted the draft pool to list starters only when these guys names came up. I just kind of trusted that, and then checked for pitchers that my scout and the OSA agreed on. But after the fact, I realize Sugar Bear Sullivan has a stamina of 8/20, and a suggested role of "strictly bullpen." And Carlos Gallo has a stamina of 5/20 and suggested role of starter (?). What are the odds that either of Gallo or Sullivan can actually be starting pitchers with such low stamina? |

A stamina of 8 is okay. The pitcher with the stamina of 5 should probably be in the bullpen, he is strictly a borderline starter. You could try him out as a starter and see how he does, but my guess is the he will be a reliever.

Gallo can start for you now. Although he won't go deep in games, he should still be able to give you 5-6 innings per start on average. If his stamina drops any lower (from injury or aging), then he'll probably be stuck in the bullpen.
Sullivan will be able to start for you if your scout is anywhere close to being right about his potential. All he needs is to develop his pitches a little more and he'll be listed as a Starter for suggested role at MLB. If you use the drop-down box, you'll probably see that his suggested role is Starter at some minor league level. It's probably best to start him out there and see how he develops. |

Both could be starters, Neither will get you huge innings as they will both tire in the 95-100 range, so expect 5-7 innings in most starts.
The reason why Gallo is suggested as a starter and Sullivan is not is purely based on current ratings. When he is ready, his status will change to reflect that. Sometimes the game will also show Bullpen that until he gets a season as a starter in the ML under his belt. (ive seen Matt Capps show as Bullpen, then he was put in the starting rotation and the next season he was suggested as a starter) |

You have scouting on so those numbers are questionable.
Pretending you have accurate information... Sullivan can, he may get pulled in the 5th because of his stamina or really lose effectiveness because of it. I would give him a 90-100 pitch limit and see what he does over a couple of months, unless he just gets hammered, then i would back him down a little quicker. Gallo.. I would try, when I did it I would give it a <1% chance of working, but I would give it a shot. If you get 4-5 IP (or 60+ pitches). 4 IP * 30 Starts = 120IP, to me that is a lot out of the pen. My attempt would be to maximize his production. If I have one guy in my rotation like this I am not bothered by it, if he pitches well. Good luck, Tom

This is a late followup. I appreciate the explanations, but I have another question. Can relievers with high stamina but only two pitches succeed as starters? Take this guy for instance:
![]() He has 14 stamina, but only two pitches. Is he a Daniel Bard in waiting? |
