Schedule issue?
I have a fictional ML setup. Getting ready to start 2014 season. The schedule has a game on April 2 & 3 (in Japan) and nothing else until the 11th. What can I do to change it to a more traditional schedule without it being a real pain in the ass? I've got about 3 more spring training games left and I'm hesitant to edit the schedule for fear of messing up my league. Also, if I can fix it for this season, what do I need to do to keep the game from producing that type of schedule in the future?
Thanks for the help |

If you have trouble making sense of the following, simply export your schedule, attach it here. Tell me the changes you want and I'll fix it for you.
To keep your existing schedule's format: You're going to need to change the start day and month in the actual schedule your league is set to use. Export your leagues schedule, Find that schedule in the games "schedule folder"and open it in notepad or any text editor. On the very top of the schedule, change start_day_of_week=, start_month= and start_day= to whatever you want. Something like this will start your season on Thursday March 28th 2014 (Your Japan games). start_day_of_week="5" start_month="3" start_day="27" If you wanted to start on a Friday you'd need. start_day_of_week="6" start_month="3" start_day="28" start_day_of_week needs to be the correct day of the week (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, etc. Sunday is 1, Monday is 2, etc.) that "start_day" (the years actual date) falls on so you'd need to look at a calender to make sure it matches as if it doesn't, the season could start a week or less later than you intended. Day_of_week determines the start date of your season not the start_day. Once you've got it the way you want, save it and Reload it into the game. To prevent this in the future go to your league setup screen and click the Options tab. Under the Schedule Options section, Set the date you want your season to start. Uncheck both "force start on certain weekday" and "auto adjust date if matching xml schedule found". That should start your season on the same date every year. Hope this helps. BTW if your wanting to start the Japan games on the same date as the others, you need to change the Day="" settings in the schedule. You could set it to match the the games on the 11th and then adjust the date using the above info to have them start earlier in April. A lot easier than changing all the day="" settings. Edit-I exported schedule but it doesn't seem to have all the different categories you mentioned. All I see is "start day" option. I would like to have the season start in early April....let's say first Monday in April.
I appreciate you looking at this. Hopefully I did it right. Was only one place I saw to export schedule. Thanks again Last edited by markprior22; 05-28-2013 at 06:09 PM. |

If you are in the preseason period you should have the option to delete the current schedule and import a different one. Select an MLB season schedule file other than the 2004, 2008, or 2012 years (all of which have early overseas opening games).

Mark, Importing the major_league_ml_c_2011.lsdl schedule will start your season on Thursday April 3, 2014. This is going to change your team matchups for the season, but will be close to what you want. Using this schedule should prevent your current schedule setup from happening again in the future. If you want to keep your existing team matchups, open your exported schedule and set game day="1" to game day ="6". Set game day ="2" to game day="7". Now go to League setup and click on the Options tab and under Schedule Options: Set the Season start date to 24 March. (Caution, since I don't know when your spring training ends, it may interfere with those games. You can set the season start date to one day after spring training ends to compensate for that if needed.) Uncheck both "Force start on certain weekday" and "auto adjust date if matching xml schedule found" (you might need to exit and restart to make sure the settings stick). Click the "Functions" button and select "Edit Schedule". Click the "Schedule"button and select "Clear Schedule". Repeat but this time select "Import from file" and navigate to your exported schedule and select it. If all goes well. The first game will start on Sat. 29 March, 2nd on Sun. the 30th and 3rd on Mon. the 31st. Rest of the league games will start on Tues. 1 April. Here is your schedule with the first 2 game days already set for you. I've tested it in game and it works.

Thanks a lot guys. I'll try importing the 2011 file. Hopefully I will be able to clear schedule since I'm in late ST. Really appreciate the help.

You could always twik the schedule and move some series to the beginning of the season. You can check afterwards too see if you made any mistakes to make sure everyone is still at 162 games. I always move games to the beginning and end of the regular season. For some reason, I like to schedule the KC Royals to play 5 straight doubleheaders to close the regular season. Since they have a 40-man roster at the time it doesn't tax the starting roatation.
