Recipe for success?
ok I'm just about done w/this game. everyone on my pitching staff is an above average pitcher (nobody has a rating lower than 50) and all my starters have an ERA over 5. not a single one is under. My pitching coach has a rating of excellent for teaching pitching and everyone is happy. My team started 4-1 and I'm not 12-20. what gives?

There are many factors as to why tour starters have high ERA. You leave them in too long, you take them out too quickly. You are in a tough division. etc. Not all players live yo to potential. Turn scouting on to 100% accurate and see what changes. I have a player who I edit his stats every yr and he still will only hit in the .250 5 HR 40 RBI range in 3 different leagues. In one of my semi defunct leagues. I played in a bandbox and my staff era was 4.13 avg the past 3 seasons, yet I averaged 7.8 RPG. |

This should be your first clue. A fifth starter at best.

32 games is a small sample size. Play the season out and see if your players reach their usual stats. Also a 59 rated pitcher is really not so good and you state he is your ace. You may just need better players.

If you are basing their ratings off of what your scout says, what are your scout's ratings?

FA's coming in from from another team also seems to play a factor the 1st year. In my modern league I signed a guy 4.5 stars ovr/pot 28 yrs old. ctrl/stu/mov 7 across the board who went 23-10 the season before leading the league in ERA (this was in Petco) came to my team playing in the Baker Bowl and had an ERA over 4.50 until late into September until he got it under 4.00. Also sometimes certain players suck until the weather warms up. But yeah, 59/68 isn't that good to me either.

The guy rated 60/69 isn't my ace, but he's my second highest ranked pitcher, that is on the 20/80 rating scale. I have yet to fire my scout but his rating is good for majors and amateurs and excellent for international and minors. Maybe that's contributing to some of my problems is that he's not so good w/the major league players. I will try a new scout next year and maybe I will have better luck. It's just very frustrating to see player ratings fluctuate so much through the course of the season. I'm in my 4th year now and this is the worst one yet, but I have the same scout and hired Scocia as my manager and he had "legendary" for handling players and my pitching coach has an "excellent" rating for teaching pitching yet my staff is an absolute mess.

The Mods should move this to "New to the Game" forum. This OP already started a similar thread there about his team. It doesn't match what he is saying here so I would tend to think that the posts are just a form of "trolling". IMHO.
