New To historical Sims

I'm not new to the game but I have never messed around with historical sims. I started a league in 1910 and have been simming up to 1930+. The league is set to import random historical rookies into the draft every year and it recalcs them according to their real life stats. The seasons also recalc every year for historical accuracy. My problem is that through 1933 I have seen just 8 30+ HR seasons and none over 36. The yearly totals come out almost spot on, but I guess with a broader distribution of the HR totals. The funny thing is the opposite is happening with triples where I routinely see 5 or 6 guys with 20+ triples.

I am wondering if this is all a byproduct of having so few teams and so many good players coming into the league. The computer just doesn't have enough stats to give out? And if that is the case I'm not sure how I should proceed. Should I adjust league totals? Let the league totals evolve on their own and see what kind of league I get? Restart with different options?

It sounds like you have the basic settings covered (first two screen prints). My uninformed suggestion would be to perhaps tinker with the recalc settings, choosing a 1-year base and/or double weighting the current year, and limiting the potentials to the selected recalc period (see third screen print for descriptions).

I've messed around with some stuff just to see what would happen. I made one played all 250s to see what kind of season someone was capable of and he hit 45 HRs with a 1200 OPS. I think I am going to sim like it is until the expansion era and see if watering down the talent will drastically inflate the numbers

Ha well two seasons after I created a mutant Chipper Jones who put up 18.5 WAR, Willie McCovery became the Babe Ruth of my game hitting 54 HR in 1939 which is almost 20 more than anyone else that I didn't mutate.
