Transfer to a new computer

My old laptop where I have OOTP13 installed is finally dying and I'm getting a new one this week. What is the easiest way to transfer the game over to the new laptop and not lose my saved game?

Thanks.

Unlicense OOTP on old computer.

Install and license OOTP on new computer

Copy .lg folder over to new computer.

Enjoy OOTP on new computer.

There's usually no need to unlicense OOTP on the old computer. I guess that it couldn't hurt, but... I'd wait until you really need to unlicense the game on a machine before actually doing it.

You should always unlicense. If not, then when the day comes you need that extra license, you'll wind up spending a few more days getting it reset from the license company.

Telling someone not to bother unlicensing when uninstalling is just bad advice sorry.

Doesn't that... uh, use up the license, though?
I'm not sure about the exact vocabulary around all of this, so feel free to let me know if I'm unclear.

You can have the game licensed on two computers at a time. Unlicensing when uninstalling from a given computer, if that is the only computer the game is installed on, gives you two available licenses again. That way, if you install on a new computer and then it goes out, you can install again on another computer without having to tell eSellerate you don't have the original computer any more and wait for a response.

Ah. I thought that unlicensing meant that one use was no longer available.
So, I can license and unlicense as many times as I'd like, but can only have 2 installations licensed at the same time, correct?

Yes, and that's one of the really neat things about OOTP.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

Remember to copy any ballparks, photos, addons, bb_cards or fg_files. If you use global jerseys, ballcaps or logos copy those also. If you,ve saved a prk (for ballparks) file save it too.
