Team budget question
Hey, I have a few questions about how the team budget works.
I'm in the postseason of my first year with the real life Reds. In 2013 my projected payroll is 116m and my projected budget is 126m, which means I have 0 money for extensions. The thing is, I have the injured Ryan Maddson on a team option for 2013, of 11m with a 2.5m buyout. My question is if I buyout of the option year, will I have the remaining 8.5m of his salary back into my extensions budget? Also, is the projected budget really the budget I'll get in the next season? I'm doing really good, on my way for an ALCS win with a top 10 farm system, so I'm hoping I'll get some more cash to throw around. And lastly, will the 15m in cash I have in 2012 move on with me into 2013? And if so, could I use them for extensions / free agency? |

Not sure if the game counts his salary, with a buyout option, in projected payroll but I would guess that it does. So if you buy him out, your cash will go down $2.5MM but your projected payroll will also go down by $8.5MM. That should have a good effect on both your free agent and extensions budgets.
The projected budget is not necessarily the actual budget next season. This is because . . . it's projected. ![]() The cash will move with you to next season subject to salary cap payments and whether the owner injects or takes out cash from your franchise. That depends on his personality and chance.
