Losing DH/Keeping current pitcher in

This is a sequence I havent been able to figure out yet. I have a pitcher that I want to keep in the game while also putting the DH in the field. I always manage to lose my current pitcher. Here's what I've been doing Dh=> into field then player I want to replace=> Pitcher. Obviously this overwrites the current pitcher. What is the right way to do this?

In OOTP, you cannot put the DH in the field. It's something that conflicts with real life baseball, but it's been maintained because changing this could cause major problems for the AI. A fix for this has been requested many times.

Not so, see the below from the OOTP13 preorder thread.

But this is not all. We continue to add small & useful features during the last stages of development. This includes, for example:
  • The DH may now enter the field and the pitcher has to bat for the remainder of the game.
Now, as to how to make it work and keep the same pitcher, I don't know. But I know it should be possible. If no one else jumps in with a how-to, I'll start a test league at home tonight and see if I can figure it out.

In a test league I set up tonight, I was able to do this twice:

1) Go to Substitution screen.
2) Change DH position to the position you want him to play in the field (say, 2B).
3) Click "OK" on the warning pop-up.
4) The pitcher should now be in the batting order in place of the original position player.

Now, I tried to quick-play the rest of the game and it crashed on me, but I suspect this is unrelated. The above steps should get your current pitcher in the lineup and your DH in the field.

Those steps work. But the game crashes if the pitcher is replaced, or if he pitches a CG and the game ends. So no, the game really doesn't support entering the P into the lineup.

For anyone looking here for a possible workaround, check this post in General forums for what seems to work and follow DCG12's steps.
This only works for the double switch method using a different pitcher and not for keeping the same pitcher in the game.

Thanks DC..
