Feeders and draft timing
Just a note after a recent discussion. It appears if your draft is too far off you might lose a significant portion of your draft pool at the end of the feeder season. I just saw an example where the draft pool announcement came after the feeder season ended. At the end of the feeder season feeder teams makes cuts. It seems if these are draft eligible players they do not appear in the draft pool if at the time of creation the players are no longer on a college or HS team. Players cut before the pool is created (announced) become free agents.
The solution seems to be set the draft and draft pool announcement prior to the end of the feeder season. Players are in the draft pool then regardless of being cut. If they are cut before the pool is announced (created) then they do do not go in the pool. example Speedy Gonzalez is cut by the universdad de Mexico on 5/15/2011. If the draft pool is announced on 5/16 then Speedy Gonzalez becomes a free agent on 5/15 and does not go into the draft pool. If it is announced on 5/14 then Speedy is in the draft pool and the cut does not matter he is still in the draft pool. It appears a player still has to be on a feeder team when the draft pool is announced for the player to appear in the draft. |

Thank you for this. I currently have my draft in the winter because I found it easier but that means I have been losing players each year. I'll sort that out

Thanks biggio, great tip and you saved me. My high school feeder season ended on May 15 and the draft reveal was scheduled for May 16. Disaster averted!
