Present vs. Potential

I've noticed players rated using the 5-Star system have the first rating to indicate their present level of performance vs. their potential level of performance.

How does one get them to live up to their potential? Is it merely something that will happen with time or is there a way I can influence the advancement?

Thank you.

It's Friday and warm. I'm not even supposed to be posting right now.

Making sure they get enough playing time at an appropriate level of competition is probably the main thing to do. Try not to promote guys before they are ready, but don't let them rot in the lower minors either. Having good coaches and putting money into Player Development helps to a lesser degree as well. A lot of it is random chance, though. Sometimes guys develop, sometimes they don't.

Back from an excellent weekend.

A five star prospect should be outperforming the average at each level of minors. Quite realistically they should force their way onto the big club. That being said you will get stud prospects that will not outperform so you may have to look past the stats and look for ratings bumps etc. to tell you what's happening.

You will often find a lesser prospect "ready" before the studs. Use them, keep them as backups or trade them when they are going well to make room for better prospects.
