Still a bit confused on a couple historical player points
Hi... I'm still a bit confused on a couple of points...
I made a league with the major league quick start.. after the first season I expand either 2 or 6 teams depending how I'm feeling. I'm still not sure how to get historical players in the first year player draft the first year I sim out to get to the expansion in the next pre season... and the following 1st year draft. Also I'm not sure how to add historical players to the FA pool when I want. Both in groups and individually. All help will be appreciated.. thanks |

You cannot turn on the import of random debut historical players after you have already created and started your game. This feature works ONLY when you create your game with the setting turned on. And this feature may not work correctly with an MLB or fictional league. It is really designed only for historical leagues.
If you want to add individual historical players to the player pool, you can go into your free agents list and click the Add Player button at the bottom. But you must know the player's ID from the historical database. You can open the Master.csv file in the database and search for the player to find the ID, or you can obtain it by going to the Baseball Reference website, finding the player's profile, and using his ID from it. The ID will show up in the URL for the player profile. You cannot mass import historical players as free agents. Maybe there is a workaround somehow by doing some kind of mass database import, but it wouldn't be ideal. Last edited by Charlie Hough; 05-03-2012 at 03:16 AM. |
