Help With Players In A Fictional 1880 League
Hey, I just started a fictional 8-team league, but it starts in 1880 with historical financials, strategy, etc. When I started the game up, there were a bunch of players with hispanic names, or names that wouldn't come up at that time period. I released everyone and deleted them. Just wondering how I can get realistic names, races, ethnicities, etc. for that time period.
Also, any other help with starting this sort of league would be appreciated. Thanks. |

This is because MLB has been hard coded for contemporary names and ethnicities. Since most people play modern MLB leagues and there were problems with the names and ethnicities being inaccurate, this was hard coded to get it to work correctly.
The drawback, however, is that it doesn't work well for early historical or fictional leagues. The first solution is to go into the world_default.xml file and find the entry for language ID 39, U.S. historical. Change the setting for using the hard coded option from 0 to 1 or vice versa. I don't remember what it is by default. This should use the previous historical settings and bypass the hard coding. However, you may still find more non-historical names than you're liking, so then you could also edit the settings for ethnicities for that same entry. You can find more help on this in the Mods forums and the Names and Nations area. |
