Most Offensive Baseball Positions?

I'm curious, what, historically, has probably been the most offensive position? LF, SS, RF, 1B? I think most people generally have an idea that the most important defensive positions have probably been SS, CF, and C, but what about offense?

In my fictional league of 16 years so far it appears that LF then SS are where the most offensive players play. Incidentally, I was surprised that 3B came a distant last (not counting the P of course).

No, holyroller, it's definitely DH, which is by definition an offensive position.

Lol that was good, although id rather have a very good offensive SS than a good offensive 1b (those are easier to find). If ther question that you were asking was what position usually has the most offense id say 1b in general, but now id have to say RF. You have Vladdy, Sammy, Sheffield, Kearns, Ichiro, Salmon, Magglio Ordonez, Shawn Green, Jermaine Dye (if he still plays RF), ..etc al!

I think labeling them as RF's might be a mistake.

I'm more than positive that those players can also play leftfield.

Well, maybe I'm wrong but when I played highschool baseball I saw no real difference between RF and LF.

I prefered LF, but that didn't mean I couldn't play the other corner.

lol Yea but im saying that seems to me where the best offensive players are playing. Them being able to play LF is irrelavant. But since u brought it up i think the Right Fielders in general have a better arm than Left Fielders in the MLB.

Its funny you mention that because I was like that in high school baseball too, but now that I play mens softball, I cant play RF for anything.

In the history of baseball 1b is the most productive, but right now id say RF

It depends on what you mean by most offensive, I think.

It's tough to make the bigs as a weak-hitting first-baseman. It just doesn't happen. So top to bottom, that's the most offensive position.

But if you look at the greatest offensive players of all time, how many of them are outfielders? A LOT: The top five HR hitters of all time, the top two (and six of the top 10) in slugging, the top two (five of the top 10 and 11 of the top 18) in OPS and the top two (and four of the top six) in RBI. So most of the elite offensive producers are outfielders.

If you're just asking which position is an offense against credibility, the answer is obviously DH.
