Who should close

So im looking to see who should close for my team a few games out heading to the deadline

25 y/o Rookie who i called up after i acquired in an early season trade as he was in AAA and i thought he was ready before i traded for him

34 y/o Veteran with closer experience who i just acquired to strengthen my bullpen down the stretch.

the rookie has slightly better numbers although his prepherials suggest a regression in stats is coming soon as his WHIP and K/9 are worse then in the minors.

the veteran comes with better ratings and closer experience, but his numbers although good, are in line with his career averages and his ERA is a full run lower than his career average, and he has blown less saves than in other years he was a closer.

Im just torn atm

Do i stick with the youngster that has been keeping the team in things thus far, or does the recently acquired veteran get the job.

Tough decision.. I would try whomever is doing better. Then, if they blow some saves, try the other one.

Some seasons, I go through 3-4 closers to finally find the one that can be consistent.

Based on pure stats alone, I would have to give it to the veteran, although his ERA is currently higher (but still 1 run below career) his K/BB and K/9 Rate is better (even though including minor stats career wise the rookie is better)

So my thoughts are go with the Vet on a short leash cause although the kid has done the job, he has been a bit lucky

ventran because of the ratings but i'd stick the rook on the #2 closer spot and keep both on very short leashes sometimes using one on one save the other on the other
